Pewaukee is on the southern edge of the Driftless Region, which is also home to Racine and Kenosha. The Village of Pewaukee was founded in 1854 by German immigrants who were moving westward from Germany. The first settlers were Lutheran missionaries who arrived in 1855 and built a log church and cemetery there. In 1908, the village became incorporated as a village. In 1960, it merged with the town of Pewaukee to form the current municipality. According to 2000 U.S. Census data, Pewaukee has a total area of , of which is land and (1%) is water

They consisted of an eye relief or mount that allowed the shooter to view the target from a distance and use a scope objective lens to shoot at it. Pewaukee is a town in the Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 14,471 at the 2010 census. Pewaukee is located on the Fox River north of Milwaukee and east of Waukesha. The first permanent settler in Pewaukee was George Lunsford who arrived in 1836. He named his farm "Lunsford's Crossing". The name may come from John Lunsford, one of the original incorporators of what is now Milwaukee County. In 1855, Philip Merrill purchased land in present-day Pewaukee for $100 and built a log cabin there. A post office called Merrillville was established here in 1865, but it was discontinued in 1868 due to growing competition from larger towns within Milwaukee County. In 1902, Drury Lane Business Park was developed on property that had been part of Merrillville. In 1908, the Fox River Bridge Company became interested in purchasing land along the river between Pewaukee and Waukesha for an express toll bridge over the river. They submitted an offer to purchase all of present-dayWaukesha County and parts of formerMilwaukee County for $1 million dollars (the equivalent price at that time). However, when county officials inspected the proposed structure they found that it did not meet local standards for bridges and declined to accept it. The company then submitted a proposal to build a new toll bridge over the Fox River instead which met local standards and won approval from county officials in 1911. The new bridge opened as part of Highway 8 on October 1, 1915. According tothe 2000 census, Pewaukee has 14 wards with a total population of 4217; this represents an increase (16%) over 1990 when its population reached 4112
