Pewaukee, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 7,826 at the 2010 census. The town is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area and is located in southeastern Milwaukee County. Pewaukee is bordered by the city of Milwaukee to the west and east, Lake Michigan to the north and south, and Waukesha County to the west and northwest. The first permanent settler in what now known as Pewaukee was Amos Pond who came from Massachusetts in 1795. He built a log cabin on Big Cedar Creek near present day Crossroads Road in 1807-1808. In 1827, John Purdy bought land east of Pawel’s Prairie for $3 per acre (105 acres). This land became known as Purdy Prairie because it was used for grazing by farmers there before development began on this site which would include the current town of Pewaukee center today. On October 14, 1829 John Purdy sold his interest in this property to Abram Jablonski who also founded Appleton village nearby on Menomonee River opposite present day Racine Harbor Park & Pier #2 across from Wiswell Park Zoo & Aquarium - one mile (1 km) north-northeast of where current day Watertown rests inland upon Menomonee River just east of US 41W within earshot of downtown Milwaukee's water tower! On January 1st 1830 Abram Jablonski moved his family into a small log cabin he had been building northeast corner lot 8th St NW&NW 2nd Ave SW corner lot 12th St NW&EAST becoming an early settler called "The Indian" or "The Forks". They were joined by two other families soon after moving when they acquired additional land parcels totaling 20 acres around their new home - becoming known as "The Village". In 1835/36 Isaac Morse moved into The Village with his wife Sarah Ann Morse (born about 1800), four children: Johnathan (born about 1815), Salmon (born about 1817), Margaret Jane (born about 1819) and Martha Cephus Morse born about December 6th 1830 – all living under one roof until 1865 when separate dwellings were erected for them each within limits set by Commissioners appointed thereto during that time period pursuant to land acquisition proceedings then being conducted under guise “the erection of a public Works”... In 1840 Samuel Hahnemann purchased from Abram Jablonski 3 lots extending northerly 9 rods; these Lots became blocks Nos 9 through 13A today adjoining Niles Center across First Avenue SOUTHWEST from old High School Lot No 4 now bounded by EBay Way North & NE 43rd Street South both sides now part of Grosse Pointe West Neighborhoods development including much surface real estate having gone up since original purchase date especially along Airport Rd including portions lying between Niles Center Blvd & EBay Way Northeast immediately adjacent along airport property line to former KFC parking lot now occupied by IKEA store complex opened September 15th 1959 interior dimensions are 375×232 feet (.23×48 meters) exterior dimensions are 448×280 feet (.24x86 meters) giving rise to some confusion regarding site location due primarily to large scale demolition taking place recently resulting in extensive reconstruction project begun November 5th 2013 using existing infrastructure including power plant administrative buildingURRENTLY UNDER Construction located at 601 S 5th St WSW Corner Block No 11 next door leased from Midland Airlines

The town was founded by German settlers in 1847 and named for Johannes Philipp Pewe (1784-1851), an early settler in that region. Pewe had come to America from Germany with his family in 1824, settling at a place now known as Addison. The original store and post office were built there in 1847; these are still standing today as part of the town center. In 1850, Pewaukee incorporated as a village and within two years had a school, jail, $3 worth of silverware, and two churches: one Congregational and one Roman Catholic. In 1865, the first telephone line was installed in the village; it served all of Pewaukee until 1938 when it was replaced by radiofrequency service. In 1890, Pewaukee became part of Milwaukee County; within thirty years it had become one of its largest towns with over 93% white residents according to federal censuses! In 1960 it attained its current population size with 5,020 people – making it one of Wisconsin’s most diverse small towns! Today’s economy is based on agriculture (primarily dairy production), manufacturing (particularly aluminum products), services ( principally social services), retail trade, and housing businesses such as home improvement stores and real estate agents….the overall identity remains largely agricultural because much of modern industry has been brought about by changes in local land use – including Attica Hills Mall which opened up adjacent to the old mill complexlet just north of downtown on Maynard Street late last year…..
Pewaukee was founded in 1839 as a small town on the north shore of the Milwaukee River. The town grew rapidly, and by 1850 it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1872, Pewaukee became part of the newly formed city of Milwaukee.
