Gun lights were first patented in 1874 by George Payne. They were originally designed to help sailors find their way during night navigation. Gun lights became popular among law enforcement officers and military personnel during the late 1800s as they allowed them to better see at a distance while hunting or raiding. By 1910, about 60 percent of all police officers in the United States used gunlights as part of their equipment. The popularity of gunlights declined in the early 20th century as technology advanced. However, they regained popularity after World War II when more people started using cars and other vehicles for travel. In 1949, the U.S. Patent Office granted US Patent 3,846,914 to Arthur Blankenship for his design of a car-mounted light that could be used while driving. This invention made it possible for drivers to see safely behind the vehicle even under low light conditions

Pewaukee is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located within the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 41,569 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Milwaukee County and one of five towns in the city of Milwaukee metropolitan area. The other four towns are Waukesha, Brookfield, Tomahawk, and West Allis. The first permanent European settler in Pewaukee was George Washington Carver who arrived there on July 24, 1836. He built a log cabin near present-day Chilton Road and later developed a farmstead which he named "Carver's Grove". In 1849 Carver donated land to the town for public use as a public square and also offered money for its construction or improvement; this thinking led to downtown being founded on what is now First Avenue between State Street and Capitol Drive in 1875. The town hall stands today on that site; it was completed in 1888 by architect George Maher with designs by his brother Edward Maher (1814-1892). In addition to downtown development, other important early years included farmers' markets on North First Street from 1880 until 1912 when they were moved to Union Park; commercial enterprises began around 1915 when an electric light company constructed a substation next door to then-renowned Ziegfeld Studios;[1] first professional football games were played here on November 3rd 1916 against Racine Municipal team (now Brown Bay High School) with Douglas Hinkle kicking off the game at Memorial Stadium before over 50,000 spectators;[2] WI Open golf championships were held at various sites throughout Pewaukee during this time including White Sands Golf Club east of town beginning in 1922 while Waukesha Agricultural College occupied facilities west of town near present day Kresge's convenience store until 1951 when they closed completely due to budget cuts which may have been related to World War II austerity measures although no evidence supports any military connection.[3][4][5] After WWII many small businesses went out of business including car wash parlors along South 1st Street which became known as "The Strip";[6] retail development resumed along Main Street during the late 1960s when two department stores - JCPenney and Sears - opened their doors after previously operating out of different buildings across Madison Avenue from 1941 until 1984 when both locations closed down due to mall expansion plans that never materialized although some blame has been placed on then-town supervisor Abe Beeson for approving those plans given his past management experience working for several local department stores).[7][8] By 1990 only one building remained standing from back then with most shops having vacated following conversion into parking lots adjoining restorations such as PNC Financial Services Center (now Wells Fargo) inside One Mile Square retail complex erected just south of where current Daycare Centers Glendale Plaza Shopping mall resides currently home exclusively to Kohl's Department Store once anchored by JCPenney prior operations extending into almost every corner location imaginable dotting nearly every residential street within two blocks radius making it one giant big box store complete with all sorts of high end items second only behind Walmart since anchor locations grew larger without providing significant more benefits/functions worth visiting outside their corporate headquarters much like Sears did decade later albeit not quite so prominently located

Pewaukee is a town located in the southern Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The town was first established in 1836 as a small community on Racine Lake by fur traders and Missionaries fromethyria (now Istanbul, Turkey). In 1847, it became part of the new Town of Fox Point. When that township was disbanded in 1871, Pewaukee came with it. The name "Pewaukee" probably comes from the Ojibwe word pewsage meaning 'to cover or protect'. In 1892, Pewaukee incorporated as a village and held its first meeting that year. On July 4th of that year residents created a park named after General John J. Pershing which still stands today across from the old post office on Green Road near KFC Worldwide Headquarters. The first plat for the village was filed on December 12th 1886 and authorized by City Council Meeting on January 25th of 1987 In 1990, when Milwaukee County annexed Racine to form its new center region, Pewaukee chose not to join those annexation proceedings and continued to exist as an autonomous municipality within the county limits until 2003 when it merged into Bradley Park Township

Pewaukee is located in the east-central portion of Wisconsin and was founded in 1837. The city was named for Major General James Pew, who served as governor of Wisconsin from 1838 to 1840. It grew rapidly during the early 19th century, thanks to its location at the crossroads of two major railroads. In 1854, Pewaukee incorporated as a town and rapid growth continued until the late 1800s, when it declined due to factors such as high population density and agricultural specialization.
