Onalaska, Wisconsin is home to the world's second-oldest gun trigger company. The business was founded in 1892 by two men who named their company after both of their shotguns. The trigger company has been in operation ever since and today is a family-owned business. It produces triggers for many different firearms, including shotguns, pistols and rifles. The triggers are used to convert weapons into firing modes and to set the time of day or year when a firearm can be fired. Trigger companies also make parts for firearms, such as springs and screws. John had purchased a shotgun from Isaac at an auction and was planning on using it for hunting but found that the hammer would not move back when he pulled the trigger. He decided to fix it himself by making a new striker assembly out of metal plates that he riveted together with bolts. This new trigger was known as the "BighamTrigger." The name stuck and the company continued production until 1898 when they moved to their current location on Key Lake Drive in Onalaska. In 1903, they produced their first pistol using a self-contained action called the "Stern Pistol." This pistol featured a wooden stock and metal frame which allowed it to fire live rounds without loading them into the magazine first. It was very successful and saw wide use by law enforcement agencies around the country before being replaced by more modern pistols in 1933. In 1978, John Bigham passed away leaving his son Isaac behind with his legacy of producing high quality triggers for firearms across America. Today, Isaac's sons continue this tradition through their own businesses - White Hills Gun triggers & Springs Incorporated (WHGSI) based in Onalaska, WI; Keystone Firearms Manufacturing Company (KFM) based in Green Bay, WI; National Firearms Museumtrigger production facility located near Alexandria VA; Black Powder Arms Company LLC based in West Allis, WI; etc.). John Bigham's grandson continues this legacy through his son Benjamin Stern who visits America every few years to produce new products under the White HillsGun Triggers & Springs nameplate

In 1865, Onalaska became the site of one of three battles during the American Civil War between Union forces and Confederate troops under General Robert Ewell (1805-1877). Union forces under Colonel Augustus Noble attacked Confederate artillery batteries nestled within rifle range on October 6th while Confederate troops defending the village were besieging another nearby village named Enterprise; both villages were also devastated by Union shelling that day In 1892, George Hargrave donated land for what would become Waukesha Memorial Hospital which opened its doors forty years later in December 1984 On July 4th 1861 two German sailors who had been captured off Newfoundland while sailing downriver Anchor Line ran into trouble when they encountered Native Americans living near present day Mukwonago Lake; their shipmates had already managed to contact white settlers and reported their sighting They called themselves "The Dutchmen" after Holland's North Sea port of Rotterdam where they'd landed prior to their capture
