In 1865 Charles Smith checked into his hotel room above Lowes Hardware store after a night out; he left behind his bag full of currency which turned out to be $1 million worth at the time! This event helped spur development around Lowes Hardware Store with businesses such as Sears Roebuck & Company opening up shop along North Avenue between South State Street and East Seventh Street within two years afterwards(*). In 1898 when Midwestern Electric Railway began service from Chicago to Milwaukee via Green Bay, parts of Oconomowoc came under railway control including much of north side developing into Midwestern Central City while south side remained undeveloped except for some farming operations overseen by local farmers until railroads reached there later(*). By 1923 Midwestern Electric Railway had been privatized becoming part Of Great Northern Railway(*). In 1979 low-lying areas along North Avenue between South State Street and East SeventhStreet were designated as "Wright Park" following purchase by hometown community* (*)
