Oak Creek is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Oak Creek River. The population was 7,492 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The name "Oak Creek" comes from an Indian name for a stream which ran through what is now the town of Oak Creek and its namesake oak tree. The first settler in what is now Oak Creek was David Redford, who arrived in 1828 and named his community after his brother-in-law, Jonas Greenleaf (1784–1857). One year later, John Prentice settled nearby to form the nucleus of what would become Oak Creek Township. In 1836, Hiram Berry set up a gristmill on Deerfield Road south of present day Elmhurst Avenue and began grinding corn for local consumption; this mill became one of early village businesses. In 1851, John Sorensen bought land east of present day State Street and built a sawmill and gristmill there which continued operation until it was destroyed by fire in 1886. In 1862, Isaac Brockman settled near where he had erected Fort Knox twelve years earlier; he began logging timber for use as building lumber in his loggers' storehouse onpresent day South Beal Street just downstream from his farmsteads. soon afterward he erected a frame church and school also called Brockman's Storehouse (now known as Old First Baptist Church). When Milwaukee County was organized in 1856, Oak creek township fell within it but with no resident or voting district established until 1861 when it became part of Brookfield Township Precinct 3 due to population growth thereabouts – alluvial deposits along both rivers making up much of that region at that time (so too did Iron Mountain National Park some twenty miles northeast). In 1865, Brookfield Township annexing Oak creek township again created residents therein with their own elected officials including jailer/ recorder/ assessor etc., something not duplicated anywhere else until Waukesha County formed circa 1880 following rapid influxes during that era following railroads coming thru our area linking Chicago with points further north – creating southeastern Wisconsin’s first suburbia! Oak Creek is a small town in the town of Appleton, Wisconsin, United States. Oak Creek was first settled by German immigrants in 1839. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Winnebago metropolitan area. The first post office in Oak Creek was established on December 5, 1840, with Lasker as its postal inspector. The name "Oak creek" may have been chosen because the creek ran through a forest near the community. In 1851, the first school in Oak Creek opened and served students from kindergarten to eighth grade. In 1865, Oak Creek had a Baptist church and a blacksmith shop. In 1886, two schools became one when they merged into one: Oakcreek School District #1 which included both townskelves; and West Branch Community School District #2 which included Appleton and most of Watertown Township (later Winnebago County). In 1907-1908 (two years after Appleton annexed parts of Watertown Township), an oak tree was donated by Mrs. C W Kapp to help improve sidewalks along Main Street in town center for people using wheelchairs or powerchairs; this tree still stands today at corner of Main and State Streets in town center - visible from much of downtown Appleton! In addition to this event being celebrated as “The Daffodil Tree sale” it also marked greatly improved sidewalks adjacent to present day First avenue between State and Washington Streets – some 7 decades later! Appleton annexed most of Watertown Township during annexation process on November 30, 1908 so that all residents were now within one municipality with their own elected officials including school board members who met at township hall each month except December where meetings were held at home due to cold weather conditions! On October 11th 1913 James P Blanchard died suddenly while working on his farm southwest of town limits leaving wife Nellie pregnant with their second child Hilda who would become Mrs James P Blanchard upon his death 3 months later followed soon afterwards by John Fenton born on January 10th 1914

In 1836, the first white settler in what is now Oak Creek County was William K. Herndon. The name of the creek was then spelled Heckebach. In 1851, John Fetterman settled on the east side of Oak Creek and named it Fetterman's Prairie. In 1865, Isaac Askin located a sawmill on the creek and naming it "Askin & Son". The first post office at Oak Creek was established in 1879. A railroad line was built through Oak Creek County in1893, and the community of Oak Creek Station became its primary settlement. The population of Oak Creek peaked at 1,500 in 1925 and declined to about 500 by 1930. The last train passed throughOak Creek Station on May 20, 1960
