Oak Creek, Wisconsin is a small town in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,693 at the 2010 census, up from 1,569 at the 2000 census. It is included in the Milwaukee–Wisconsin metropolitan area. The village of Oak Creek was founded in 1835 by John Wirth and others as a farmstead on a hill above present-day Oak Creek Boulevard near what is now known as South Park Square. The name "Oak Creek" may be derived from nearby White Earth Lake or fromoak trees that grow along its banks. In 1841, Wirth donated land to create Village Green and laid out streets and homes around it; these were later named for him and his wife Cornelia (née Lemberg). One hundred years ago, Oak Creek had no school; but thanks to donations from Mrs. Lemberg and other citizens, construction began on an academy in 1881 which became Oak creek High School today. In 1955, much of what is now downtown Oak Creek was built using Federal funds under the Administration Act of 1956 - during which time Mayor John Riegle called it "the most important development this side of Milwaukee". The Village also established a park system including Maple Lake Park & Recreation Area adjacent to downtown and Apple Blossom Park across Interstate 94 (now I-94W) just north of town limits; both are still open today despite various renovations over time. A major fire destroyed almost all buildings within blocks of downtown Oak creek on November 8th 1951 while firefighters battled an extensive blaze complicated by heavy wet snowfall; however there were no injuries reported as a result of either event aside from some warehouse destruction caused by flying water droplets that missed human targets entirely The following year saw another significant fire when two warehouses caught fire in what was then known as Town Centre Plaza - this again resulted in few injuries though some damage done to several buildings worth millions dearer than any ever seen before or since due to arson Additional rebuilding followed until present day with only minor updates/renovations taking place throughout: mostly outside municipal boundaries with little impact on local affairs taking place inside municipality limits These recent updates have been largely due to Lake Michigan flooding (due primarily to rainsstorms events hitting metropolitan Milwaukee hard) pancaking temperatures (-20F/-4C), likely related infrastructure damage inflicted during extreme weather conditions last winter (possible contributing factors include downed power lines resulting in widespread ice buildups throughout city center resulting in travelers being stranded for hours while crews worked to clear areas) In short: things have generally been going relatively smoothly since those early days when community leaders decided work needed to be done

Oak Creek is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located in the eastern portion of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The population was 10,851 at the 2010 census. Oak Creek was platted in 1854 and named for an oak tree that stood near the town's first post office. The townsite of Oak Creek was surveyed by George Higginson on November 3, 1854, and it became a town on December 15, 1855. The first settler to arrive in what is now Oak Creek was John A. Schoenfeldt, who arrived on September 25, 1857. He built a cabin near what is now its center and named it "Schoenfeldt Cabin." In 1863, Adam Milliken purchased land adjacent to Schoenfeldt Cabin and laid out a community called Millikenville around his millinery shop and home. By 1865, there were ten families residing in Millikenville; four years later there were fifteen families living there alone. In 1875-76, Jeptha Pugh developed a coal mine at what is now known as Pugh Point east of town; this mine produced coal until 1913 when it closed due to pollution issues caused by operations over time including air infiltration from surrounding woods which led to significant surface loss (the company eventually ceased operations). In 1888-89 Captain Fenton erected a sawmill on the shores of Lake Michigan about three miles northeast of downtown Oak Creek; this mill continued operating until 1984 when it went out of business due to problems with water levels in the lake caused by heavy rains during winter months rather than by Sawmill fever as had been speculated earlier among some residents (Fenton had also been involved with early development of nearby Waukesha County). From 1915-1916 several small shops operated within walking distance or car access to stores located just outside downtown Oak Creek - these shops included those run by Mrs Julius Meyers (later Mrs Edward Sauer), Mrs Ruth Burchfield (later Mrs Harry Soffer), Mrs Clara Kaufmann (laterMrs Rudolph Kruger) and Mrs Alice Dreesen - all womenowned businesses which supplied local residents with goods and services such as groceries, household items and automobile repair services during these difficult times ahead for many rural Americans following World War I In 1957–58 two schools were opened within walking distance or car access along Center Street in downtown Oak Creek - these schools were Elmira High School and Dale Elementary School which served students from preadolescent through eighth grade at their respective locations until 1993 when they merged into one school complex known today as Cedarburg Senior High School building #2 . Downtown redevelopment efforts following devastating flooding in 1994 destroyed much important evidence associated with earlier pioneer activities here including Schoenfeldt Cabin/Millikenville buildings #1-3 but did not affect Elmira High School & Dale Elementary Schools although they lost most if not all their contents . In 2000–2001 Cedarburg Senior High School underwent major renovation project resulting in addition of sixth form facilities which replaced original seniors high school auditoriums . This project also includes installation new rooflines over old classrooms plus refurbishment/replacing windows throughout buildings providing more energy efficient operation ..
