New Berlin, Wisconsin is located in the Midwestern United States and has a rich knife history. The first knives were likely made by hunter-gatherers in the area over 10,000 years ago. through Knivesmithing techniques, these early makers created some of the most iconic and well-known knives around. The area was settled by Germans in 1800s and started to make their own knives as well. By 1900, New Berlin had a small population with many shops serving local residents. However, it wasn’t until 1949 that the city began to get its own knife production plant. This plant continued to produce quality knives until 1978 when it was closed down for lack of competition. Thereafter, new knife manufacture took over at the old plant until it was finally demolished in 2001. Today there are multiple Knife Shops located throughout New Berlin which offer different types of knifes including Bowieknives, daggers, Bowies etc… It is interesting to note that even though this complex industry didn’t take off until after World War II due to prohibitionism (a result of America’s attitude towardsKnife ownership), Knife manufacturing still continues today all across America thanks to various economies such as China and Japan who enjoy fluctuations in crime rates which have led them into resurgence as an industry

New Berlin, Wisconsin is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 997 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Portage County and is located on the Mississippi River about north of Milwaukee. The name "New Berlin" was chosen by General George Washington in 1795 as the new name for Fort Snelling (later Minneapolis), which he had founded in 1793 as a military post on an indirect route from Lake Superior to Detroit.
The town site was laid out in 1836 by John Ladd and others under the direction of surveyor Moses Coit, who recommended that it be named after New York City's first mayor, Nicholas-Jacques Conte. The town site itself was platted in 1849 by territorial governor Joel Richardson following recommendations from commissioners John Paulding and Nathaniel Sheboygan; however, no buildings were erected until 1851 when a hotel, store, millinery shop, blacksmith shop and other businesses were built along Madison Street between First Avenue and Second Street.
In 1855, New Berlin became part of Racine County; but because it lay across the river from Milwaukee proper, its growth slowed down until annexation by Milwaukee occurred in 1898. In 1905–06 construction began on what would become Red Wing Arsenal – one of America's earliest arsenal complexes; it opened two years later with 1 million rounds of ammunition including 240 machine guns purchased from Europe. By 1910 nearly all manufacturing had been moved out to Red Wing so that it could compete with Chicago's Great Western Steel Company for jobs in difficult times during World War I; but competition led to plant closure during World War II due to lack of demand or war production restrictions.; nevertheless New Berlin continued through both wars as an important commercial center with large warehouses used for storing goods coming into and leaving the country. After 1945 much industrial activity ended although many small shops continued up until around 2000 when most mills closed down.

New Berlin started off as a small agricultural village with only five families settled near where today’s downtown exists.
