One such change came when Interstate 94 was constructed through the town in 1964; this major transportation artery helped spur economic development in New Berlin and other nearby communities

The town had a population of about 100 people when it was organized into a village on November 5, 1846. A post office was established at New Berlin on December 2, 1847, and remained in operation until 1959. In 1865, the federal government created the Town of Racine as part of an effort to consolidate all villages in Milwaukee County under one jurisdiction. The incorporation of Racine made New Berlin superfluous and it ceased to exist as a municipality on January 1, 1968. New Berlin is located at 42°30'12" North latitude and 90°24'48" West longitude
