Neenah, Wisconsin is a small town located in the far northcentral corner of Wisconsin. The population was 1,599 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kenosha County, WI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Neenah was first settled by German immigrants in 1836. In 1842, settlers from Illinois founded a town nearby and it became known as Waukesha. The name Neenah was given to the community by George Washington Nicollet because he had seen many Indians living near what is now Neenah when he visited that area in 1839. The first post office was established in Neenah on November 17, 1846. By 1860, all but one of the original businesses had closed down due to lack of customers or competition from other towns in the area. In 1870, Congress created Kenosha County and named it for President Ulysses S. Grant who had been serving as governor at the time. The county seat was moved from Waukesha to Kenosha in 1872 and remains there today. In 1907, Milwaukee Shock Trauma Hospital opened in Neenah and continues to serve patients today; it is one of only a few hospitals still open present-day throughout America that has been specifically designed for emergency medical services needs such as surgery and trauma victims

The town of Neenah, Wisconsin was founded in 1854 by the merging of two earlier settlements, Neenah and Whitewater. At its peak, Neenah had a population of over 1,600 people. The town declined after the American Civil War but revived in the 1920s as an agricultural center. Today, Neenah is a small city with a population of just over 100 people. Neenah was named for Mrs. Ruth Butler (1792-1865), who married George Washington Butler in 1824 and moved to what is now the city of Racine from Waukesha County. In 1852, Mrs. Butler's father built a mill on the old Neenah River site which he called "Neenah Falls." Mr. Butler died in 1865 and his widow continued to operate the mill until her death in 1865 also. After her death, the mill passed through several hands before it came into private ownership and been leased back to the town of Neenah for use as a high school between 1907-1914 In 1924, when Wisconsin became one state, Neenah became part of this new state and experienced rapid growth thanks to agriculture being its mainstay. As farming shrunk during the Great Depression however, so did employment opportunities within townspeople; many left for good during World War II because there were few jobs available outside of agriculture Neenah has since regained some level of stability with only about 100 residents living within its boundaries today . However much like any other small community there are moments when things get crazy such as when someone sets off fireworks near Main Street on Halloween night or when something strange happens at night on July 4th
The town of Neenah was founded by the Winnebago Sioux in 1795. It was named for the Nebraska River, which flows through the town. The first white settlers arrived in Neenah in 1854. The town became a city in 1909 and was renamed after President Woodrow Wilson.
