Neenah is a town in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–Stout–West Allis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Neenah was Captain George Vancouver on May 24, 1792 while exploring the Wisconsin Territory. He named it "Neenah" after his native place in Scotland. The first permanent settler in what is now Neenah was James Flitch who arrived in 1837 and built the first store and tavern there. He also erected a log cabin which still stands today as a museum piece called "The Flitch Cabin". In 1838, John Fetterman set up a sawmill and gristmill in what is now downtown Neenah. This community began to grow rapidly and by 1840 had two stores, four hotels (including one known as the White Hart), six schools and twelve churches; all of which were used for religious services during this time period. By 1846 there were ten stores, twenty-four hotels, thirty-six schools and forty-eight churches; all of which together contributed $10,000 to $20,000 towards expenses associated with building new homes within the town limits In 1850 neenah's post office was established with P O Box 8995 as its mailing address In 1861 J H Bauer opened his business bakery on Main Street name later changed to Bauer's Bakery & Cafe In 1870 Wm H Macy started selling groceries from his grocery store on First Street name later changed to Macy's Grocery Store In 1875 A S Lantz started selling clothing from his store on Third Street name later changed to Saunders Clothing Store

The townsite was named for Neenah Creek which flows through the town. The town began to develop as a commercial center after railroad construction began nearby in the late 1800s. These include Oktoberfest celebration held every October; Memorial Day Fayre held annually on Memorial Day weekend; Chinese New Year Celebration held every January; and Mothers’ Day Celebration held every May. Some of the most famous residents of Neenah include author Lois Lowry who wrote her first novel here; singer/songwriter Neil Youngblood who lived here during his early years as a teenager; actor Dean Norris who played Sheriff John Doe on TV series Milwaukee County Jail; musician Neko Case whose band played at Gratiot Park during their 1979 tour from Milwaukee to Madison;and entrepreneur Tony Robbins who founded Robbins Fitness Centers here in the 1980s
Neenah, Wisconsin was founded by the Sauk people in 1792. The town was named for one of their leaders, Neenah. The first post office in the town was established in 1834. In 1862, Neenah became a city and it held its first election that year. In 1967, the town changed its name to Green Bay after its incorporation into the City of Green Bay.
