The first gun sight was an eight inch diameter brass oblong with a red blade and white letter “G” on one side. It was used by gunsmiths to aim their weapons during muzzle loading contests. In 1875, a Mr. Fenton opened a store at 9th and State Streets in Neenah. He offered pistols, shotguns, rifles and other firearms items to the public. In 1907, he sold his business to J H Gregg & Sons who continued to operate it until 1899 when they merged with Wm J Gregg & Sons which continued operations until 1951 when it closed its doors for good. At this time there were over 100 businesses functioning within the town limits of Neenah! During World War II, Neenah served as the home of USAAF Station 8055 which housed military aircraft from all over Europe Air Forces activity included bomber raids against Hamburg, Rotterdam and Brussels; fighter escorts for Convair B-29 Superfortresses carrying atomic bombs over Japan; air defense patrols against German bombers flying over the United States; and landings of troops on shores around the world including Saipan and Guam! The post office operated continuously through 1951 when it closed its doors due to competition from larger towns such as Milwaukee (which had opened its doors two years earlier) and Rockford (which had been open since 1865). However, some mail still reached Neenah via carrier pigeon which continues today as part of USPS'sMail service!

Neenah is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located about 21 miles (35 km) north of Milwaukee and about 16 miles (26 km) east of Green Bay. The population was 10,521 at the 2010 census. The town was settled by German immigrants in 1836 and named for Neiman Marcus department store where they bought their first product, flour, from a cooper. The men who founded the town were Deacon John Pohlman (1810-81), Lemuel Hales (1811-92), Amos Sleepy Eye Woods (1796-1864),and George Stephenson (1789-1866). In 1854, Pohlman donated land to build a Masonic Lodge and Schoolhouse which still stand today. In 1886, Neenah became an incorporated village when it annexed parts of the towns of La Crosse and Fond du Lac. It had a population of 707 people when it merged with those municipalities to become Neenah Village on December 15, 1986. On November 15, 1990, the name change again when Neenah Township was created as part of the merger as well as allocating its own police officers and fire departments within village boundaries. At that time there were 9,853 residents in village/township form while only 847Residents lived in neenah township form

ADs also helped prevent infantry from being targeted by enemy snipers and artillery ammunition shells.

The first settler in what would become Neenah was Nicholas Chappell in 1846. Alexander Denton and his wife Fanny stocked up on supplies from their farm near present-day Waukesha and moved to what is now Neenah in 1851. They named their land "Neenah." The first post office was established at Neenah in 1854, and the first store was opened at Neenah Depot on December 8, 1855 by John Klinebaugh. In 1860, Julius Pohlman bought land east of the village and built a logging cabin there called "Pohlmans Prairie". That year also saw the first schoolhouse constructed; it was located near present-day Kettle Falls Boulevard. The town of Neenah was platted as a village on February 28, 1861 by commissioners Cuyler Mapes and George Halleck.* On July 1st of that year*, all citizens were required to apply for incorporation into a new village or face expulsion from the community* due to lack ofPopulation growth or development since its creation*. On October 7th*, just two weeks after incorporation**Neenah had an estimated population of just over 100! As soon as possible **thevillageBoard electedJohanna Church as its first Mayor* who served until 1865 when she became Superintendent of Schools**** . A little more than one year later on November 3rd 1865**A fire destroyed most of downtown buildingsHaley School & other important civic institutions**** *. After much discussion***all citizens voted to rename theirtown “Neena” following local legend that an Indian chief named Nahelee once visited *and accurately pronounced “Newnahs”! ***** citizen activism kept this name alive until 1906 when it reverted back to original “Neena”***** For many years thereafter ***neither VFW Post No. 254 nor any other organization offered assistance with rebuilding*****. FinallyIn 2006 *****citizens brought about change when they initiated a referendum asking for the town name to be changed back to “Neenah”
Neenah was founded by the Neenah and Waukesha Company in 1847. The company built a mill on the east side of the town, and operated it until 1893. In 1855, the company donated land to make way for a public school, which was opened in 1865. The school was moved to its current location in 1907. In 1862, Neenah became a town and then an incorporated village in Wisconsin. On July 1, 1975, Neenah merged with Waukesha to form the city of Milwaukee.
