Neenah, Wisconsin is a town of about 123,000 people in the far north-central corner of Wisconsin. It is the county seat for Dane County and the surrounding townships have a combined population of just over 150,000. The town has been known as "The Gunnery City" since 1853 and it was here that early rifles were made and sharpened. In 1858, Neenah became the first town in Dane County to Ordinancearily recognize firearms as a means of protection against Indian raids. There are now more than 20 gun stores in Neenah and it is home to one of the largest pistol ranges in the United States. The Townspeople's Rifle Association (TRA) was organized on October 15th, 1858 at meetings held at various locations throughout the community. The TRA was charged with promoting rifle shooting through education and organization. The primary purpose of the TRA was to protect local residents fromIndian raids by their enemies which had become increasingly common during this time period. During its early years, there were only six members active within TRA membership; however, within two years there were over 60 individuals who belonged to TRA dues-paying organizations including men and womenasseachs Patriotic Club (1860), Masonic Lodge No. 3 (1863), First Methodist Church Ladies' Auxiliary (1864), Women's Auxiliary Baptist Church (1865), First United Methodist Church Congregational Society (1866) and Post Office Committee for Masonic Lodges Nos 1 & 2 (1867). As firearm regulation increased in America during this era, so too did TRAn activity within Neenah society with events such as NRA Annual Meeting being held annually at various venues throughout town until 1911 when it moved to larger hall located on Main Street becoming known as "The Armory." On January 2nd 1912 an ordinance regulating firearms statewide was passed by both houses of Congress with then Governor John Pemberton signing it into law making Wisconsin one of the fifty states possessing Firearms Prior Authorization required before any person could possess any type or quantity handgun including revolvers etc., effective March 14th 1912 The following year saw yet another NRA Annual Meeting taking place at "The Armory" where new members could be initiated intogunownership A few months later on April 6th 1913 tragedy struck when four young girls attending daycare center near by were fatally shot by three masked gunmen while playing outside

Neenah is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,906 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–West Allis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The land that makes up Neenah was first settled by German immigrants in 1836. The name "Neenah" was derived from the Ojibwe word "naku," meaning "watercourse." A post office called Neenah was established in 1848, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. In 1902, a group of settlers organized as the Neenah and District Agricultural Society to purchase of land west of the Town Line for agricultural purposes. This initial donation covers most of what now makes up Neenah Township and provides much of its present identity as a rural community with small-town values. The townsite lots were bought by farmers between 1852 and 1862; during this time, there were no roads or railroads nearby so transportation played an important role in early development. By 1865, however, some progress had been made with construction of a road from Green Bay to La Crosse which facilitated trade within and outside the village. With this new infrastructure came better access to markets for goods produced by local farmers and also opened up new opportunities for economic development within the community itself; today's economy depends largely on services such as education and health care marrow processing plants located just east of town along Interstate 431 (I-4). One interesting aspect about early history is that not all residents agreed on everything which led to tension between different groups on occasion but ultimately resulted in social cohesion within the village through shared interests rather than open conflict typical among frontier settlements at this time period. One such example can be seen around 1850 when two brothers – John and Jacob Weise – purchased twenty acres (10 hectares) near where modern day Neenah Boulevard meets I-94 southbound near Plum Creek Bridgehead Park*. While they initially farmed their land using Indian hoes* they soon began constructing buildings including a log cabin known as “the White House” which served as their home until 1860 when they sold it to John Ziegler who continued living there until his death five years later†† *. In 1863*, after spending several months traveling through many Wisconsin villages seeking an auspicious site for his annual meet held at De Pere Lake due to strong pressure from neighboring towns* (*see footnote), Ziegler found himself at Neenah where he founded what would become one of America’s oldest Lutheran churches*. Today’s main thoroughfare designated State Highway 89 parallels portions of course traveled by Ziegler back then; evidence suggests he may have chosen this particular path because it coincided with prevailing winds which favored maize production throughout much of central Illinois during his era†* *. As more people started moving into these communities over time * (*see footnote), violence increasingly became a concern as communal boundaries blurred* (Cameron 1990: 82). Consequently, leaders developed mechanisms such as arbitration panels or Stickney Committees composed exclusivelyof representativesfrom each subgroup/community involved in disputes*) (*see footnote) to manage interactions between different factions without resorting to physical confrontation** [* see footnote] *.
