The Mount Pleasant Rifle and Pistol Club was organized in 1892. The club used to have a shooting range at the old post office, but it burned down in 1954. In 1967, the Mount Pleasant Rifle and Pistol Club moved to their current building on US 41 near State College. Since rifles are still an important part of many Wisconsin households, the club has been keeping records of rifle and pistol protection history since its founding. In 1892, the Mount Pleasant Rifle and Pistol Club was founded by Rufus Graydon III and his wife. They used to shoot at a local quarry until they built their own shooting range at the old post office on US 41 near State College in 1967. club members keep track of various safety features that have been added or removed over time for firearms safes or other protective devices such as trigger guards or backstops for pistols. For example, some clubs have started adding metal detectors as standard equipment for all new memberships! Mount Pleasant is a small town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,662 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Vernon Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mount Pleasant is located on the eastern border of Door County and is bordered by Marathon to the north, Racine to the west and south, and Waukesha to the east. Mount Pleasant was first settled in 1847 by German immigrants from Alsace-Lorraine. The community name derived from "Mt." (mountain) and "Pleasant" Township which were both given to them by their Dutch-speaking neighbors. In 1869, when Door County was created, Mount Pleasant became a part of it and remained so until its annexation by Milwaukee in 1967. In 1964, Mount Pleasant voters passed a resolution authorizing the erection of a City Hall building on Main Street. The city never materialized as a result of an economic recession; however, Main Street remains as its namesake today. The Mount Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company was organized in 1896 and has been serving residents of Mountpleasant since then. The company currently consists of thirty-six members who respond to fires originating within one mile (1 km) of their station with limited response time for larger incidents outside that radius.

Mount Pleasant was founded by David Potter in 1834. The town had a population of about seventy-five people when it was platted, and it grew quickly, reaching one hundred people by 1871. The town became an agricultural center, and its woolen mill produced the finest cloth in the country. In the late 1800s, Mount Pleasant experienced a growth spurt as a resort town. The town's name comes from the Union Pacific Railroad's Mount Pleasant Yard, which stood on what is now First Street. In 1902, Mount Pleasant incorporated as a village, and its population increased to one thousand people by 1907. By 1934, however, all of Mountpleasant's growth had stopped due to economic problems. Today only a few remaining businesses still operate in the old town; many of these have been replaced by modern buildings in recent years.
Mount Pleasant was founded in 1868 by John C. Nicolay and his family. The town was named after the Mount of Plenty, a peak in the region. Nicolay donated land to the town and built a wooden schoolhouse and post office. He also purchased a sawmill, which he used to produce lumber for buildings and cars. In 1872, Mount Pleasant had a population of just nine people. However, business began to grow rapidly thanks to the good harvests from the nearby agricultural fields. By 1907, Mount Pleasant had a population of over 100 people and it became an important center for trade in the area. In 1912, Nicolay died at age 73 years old and his wife took control of the townspeople. She developed new businesses such as a grocery store, blacksmith shop, diner, garage and more. The town continued to grow until World War II when it was hit hard by war-related expenses. After the war ended, Mountpleasant quickly recovered and by 1960 had reached its current size of around 200 people
