Mount Pleasant is a small town in the town of Marinette, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 814 at the 2010 census. Mount Pleasant is located on Wisconsin Highway 10 east of Marinette. The first settlers to Mount Pleasant were Quakers who arrived there in 1836. They erected a meeting house and built a few other buildings before moving west to present-day Stevens Point in 1847. A post office was established at Mount Pleasant in 1848, and the townspeople voted to name it after Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, which they had recently visited. In 1860, two soldiers from Iowa fought in the American Civil War and were bestowed with the rank of captain on their return home. Upon their arrival in Marinette, they purchased property around what is now downtown Mount Pleasant from John Fritchie for $1 per acre. Captain John's son James Fritchie soon took over his father's land holdings and developed many businesses including lumber yards and corn mills along with developing a large Temperance Hall which still stands today (though not used as a public building anymore). In 1870 James' son George bought out James' share of the business and continued operations as George Fritchie & Sons Lumberyards until its sale to Sears Roebuck & Co., Inc., then part of Sears Holdings Corporation following its purchase by Sears Roebuck & Co., LLC in 2013. Mountpleasant has always been one of the most important centers for dairy farming in Marinette County due to its fertile soil and access to good water supplies. Today, some of the largest dairy farms within easy driving distance are located near Mountpleasant including those run by Midwestern Dairies Inc., Dairy Farmers Cooperative Association (DFCA), Parmalat America Foods Corporation (Parmalat), Bright Dairy Inc., Holsteins USA LLCs Oneida Park Farmstead cheese production center (now closed) as well as New Holland Farms LLCs Madison creamery complex that produces Heublein Swiss Chalet cheeses among others There are also several small grocery stores such as Goudreau's Cheese Store which operates since 1896 when Harry Goudreau opened his store next door to what is now First National Bank . The last major employer until circa 2000 was Henschel Paper Company which operated an extensive paper manufacturing plant until it went bankrupt during the Great Recession causing significant layoffs throughout much of rural Marinette County

In 1861, the town became a port for shipping grain from the surrounding area; it also developed into a commercial center with its own bank and several stores. In 1865-66,Mount pleasant hosted the Moravian Conference which focused attention on religious issues during America's Civil War. Mount Pleasant has experienced some growth over time – it reached a population of 10,000 by 1930 – but its character has remained largely unchanged since that time. Today, Mount Pleasant is home to a wide variety of businesses including two libraries (the Community Library System donated their building to the town), two high schools (one public and one private), three churches (two Baptist and one Lutheran), as well as more than fifty residences dating back to when MtPleasant was primarily an agricultural community
