Mount Pleasant is a small town in Racine County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. The Mount Pleasant post office opened on October 17, 1854, and remained in operation until March 15, 1976. The first settler in Mount Pleasant was John Stephenson who arrived from Vermont in 1847. He named his farm "Mount Pleasant" after his birthplace of Mount Holyoke (now Amherst), Massachusetts. In 1865 the U.S. Army built Fort Snelling near present-day Mount Pleasant to help protect settlers against Native American attacks. In 1870s two other forts were built at North West Point and SouthWest Point on both sides of the Milwaukee River; these forts were abandoned by 1915 because they were no longer needed and their materials became available for development in nearby Waukesha County. A sawmill was erected on what is now State Street around 1880 and soon became a major industry in the community; it continued to operate into the 1920s when a new mill was built on the south side of State Street opposite First National Bank building which remains active today as Racine Sawmills Incorporated. By 1930 there were more than 100 businesses operating inMountpleasant with over $7 million worth of products exported annually. By 1940 there were only 10 businesses still operating with an annual product value of less than $1 million However during World War II many businesses closed or merged due to wartime military production restrictions. After World War II most business closures stopped and much property reverted back to agricultural use however some properties remain used as residences or commercial businesses today including: Mount Pleasant Methodist Episcopal Church (founded 1893), First National Bank (founded 1856), Parkview Place Apartments (1896). Today's Main Street runs parallel toState Street from north to south while Trade Road parallels Interstate 94 east-west running through town center.

Mount Pleasant was a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, founded in 1855 by John Maynard and other pioneers. The population was 1,451 at the 2010 census. Mount Pleasant is located along the Fox River between Green Bay and Milwaukee. The town was named for Mount Pleasant Township, on the edge of which it was founded. The first post office was established in 1856, and saw both growth and contraction until it closed its doors in 1902. At its peak in 1907, Mount Pleasant had a population of 2,025 people; however, this number decreased rapidly over the next few years as new settlements were formed within range of the community. In 1912, when an act passed Congress giving states power to establish regional governments gave Mount Pleasant autonomy as a municipality within Milwaukee County, its population increased to 3,052 people but declined again by 1920 due to follow-up rural development projects outside of town boundaries. By 1930 only 624 people lived in downtown Mountpleasant while 2136 patrolled the streets around it; this decrease continues up through to today with just 512 residents living inside city limits and another 448 residing outside them on three separate annexed parcels sandwiched between Milwaukee County and Menomonee County One reason why mount pleasant has experienced such a shrinking trend is likely because there are now no commercial or industrial areas that would have supported large populations during those earlier days when industry played an important role in local economies Municipal services once provided by downtown residents have been transferred increasingly into neighboring municipalities such as Brookfield or Appleton since then In contrast to other larger U.S towns that have seen their populations grow recently due to suburban sprawl or immigration from abroad – like Chicago or Detroit – Mountpleasant seems stuck in a time warp where Rapid Growth stopped happening for whatever reason
