Mount Pleasant is a small town located in Door County, Wisconsin. The population was 1,496 at the 2010 census. Mount Pleasant is part of the Menomonie, WI Micropolitan Statistical Area. It is bordered by Manitowoc to the north, Sheboygan to the east, Green Bay to the south, and Racine to the west. The town was founded in 1854 by John Ainley and others who came from England. The first store in Mount Pleasant opened in 1856. When railroads were built through Door County in the late 1800s, many people moved to Mount Pleasant because it was closer to those new resources. After World War II, when industry declined and jobs disappeared due to automation, many residents left Mountpleasant for other parts of Door County. Today, Mountpleasant remains an agricultural town with a small manufacturing sector that produces items such as flour and paper products. The local school system has been around since 1855; however, it has seen recent declines in enrollment and funding over time as more people have moved into larger towns nearby. In 2013-14 there were only 957 students at Mountpleasant Elementary School; however this number may be low given that there are no high schools within walking distance of the village center or any other public education options outside of private charter schools which are much more expensive than traditional public schools

Mount Pleasant is a town in Walworth County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. The first post office was established in 1854. Mount Pleasant is named for General John Logan, who fought in the American Civil War and received the Medal of Honor. The town was originally settled by German immigrants in the early 1800s. The first settler to arrive in what is now Mount Pleasant was Dr. Johann Friedrich Christiansen, who arrived on July 7, 1824. He erected a cabin near present-day Main Street and First Avenue. The following year, he married Anna Elisabeth Kappeler and founded a small farming community called Christianstadt am Bach (later spelled "Churchtown"). In 1827, Dr. Christiansen's son Julius founded another small farming community called Wellsville on the western bank of the North Branch of the Black River northeast of present-day Mount Pleasant. In 1835, settlers from New Ulm started arriving in what would become Mount Pleasant and began building log cabins on land they had purchased from Draconian Creek proprietor Nicholas Wagner Jr.. At that time there were only two inhabited villages located within Walworth County: Mukwonago and Appleton – both located east of Milwaukee proper – so it’s likely that many Germans also moved into what would become Mountpleasant during this time period as well. As early as 1830 or 1831, Isaac Becker built an adobe cabin west of present-day Main Street across frompresent-day Kohlmeyer Park before moving to live near Wellsville in 1840 or 1841; his wife also lived there until their deaths some years later. By 1840 or1841 most all German Settlers living within sight of Milwaukee had either left for other parts of Wisconsin or taken up permanent residence elsewhere due to increasing competition from farmers west of Milwaukee for acres available for agriculture around this time period.; stagecoach transportation became more available overland through Illinois starting about this time which probably contributed to some Germans choosing to move away from Milwaukee rather than continue bargain hunting for land east of town where goods could be bought fresh outta state - something that evidently still occurs today among some ruralWI Germans even though interstate travel has largely replaced trucking as their primary form Of transportationugly/cheap housing options) .
