The Mount Pleasant Rifle and Pistol Club was formed in 1876. The club began meeting at the old Methodist Church on State Street. In 1879, the club moved to the Masonic Lodge on Elm Street. In 1902, the club purchased a rifle from John Wirths of Green Bay. In 1912, the club purchased a pistols from A.H. Smith of Milwaukee. The Mount Pleasant Rifle and Pistol Club met at different locations until 1914 when they moved to their current location at 625 S 6th St in Mount Pleasant.
Mount Pleasant is a city located in the town of Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 14,521 at the 2010 census. Mount Pleasant is one of six cities in the town of Green Bay proper and it straddles the border between those two towns. It is bordered by Waupaca to the north, Brown County to the east, Iron County to the south, and Door County to the west. The first settler in what would become Mount Pleasant was Isaac Decker in 1836. He built a cabin on an isolated bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. In 1847 John Denton settled here with his family after moving from Illinois. Denton established a ferry service across Lake Michigan for passengers and goods coming and going from Green Bay and Waupaca. He also began production of lumber here which led to his name being applied to this location by other early settlers who saw potential timber resources hereabouts. In 1854 Jonas Sorensen arrived in Mount Pleasant bringing over his wagon train with goods he had acquired on his way back west from Rockford via Chicago during a period of great social upheaval there called "the Great Western Famine." Sorensen set up camp near present-day Park Street on land that became part of Mount Pleasant soon after he arrived. The first school in what would become Mountpleasant was organized by Revs Jacob Hoffmann and Friedrich Kappeler on July 24, 1855 using earth funds they had collected as part of their efforts to build schools throughout central Wisconsin during that year's statewide education drive known as "The Prairie Schooling Movement." In 1862 when General Ulysses S Grant ordered all American forces pulled back from Northwestern Indiana following victory at Vicksburg I&M Station, most people within blocks of Fort Garry were evacuated or driven out due to disease brought over by Union troops retreating through that area ahead of Sherman's march through Indian Territory into Oklahoma several weeks later (see 'Vicksburg & Central Indiana: History'). Among these relocated residents were many families who had gathered around Decker's cabin since earlier that year while he continued offering instruction in farming skills at an abandoned log school across from where he still stands today - now known as Decker's Campground - for grade-school students living nearby northwest along State Highway 7 just off Interstate 94E about five miles northeast (map below). Many young men and women who were unable or unwilling or unable or unwilling To return home during wartime did so voluntarily joining up with Confederate troops fighting against US forces either locally or far away such as Hancock Co., Iowa; Dodge Co., Missouri; Doniphan Co., Kansas; Hardin Co., Texas etc...Some found new homes within minutes following Federal withdrawal & some even longer times such as 20 years old Levi Coffin who decided long ago not to go back East but live among friendly Indians until white man came again

Today, the town is still home to a number of notable residents and businesses, including a library, museum, art gallery, and restaurant.
In 1854, a group of settlers from Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin set out to found a new community in what is now the town of Janesville. The first residents of Mount Pleasant were men, women and children who had come overland from Illinois. They erected a log cabin and started a small mill that produced flour for local consumption. In 1861, the citizens of Janesville voted to incorporation as a town and Mount Pleasant became one of its first members. The mill continued operation until 1967 when it was closed down due to financial difficulties. SinceMountpleasant has been so important in the history of Janesville, many local landmarks and institutions have been named after it including the Mount Pleasant School District (1961-present), the Mount Pleasant Library (1966-present) and theMount Pleasant Community Center (1978-present).
