Mount Pleasant is a small town in the town of De Pere, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. The Mount Pleasant Post Office opened in 1851 and closed in 1974. The first settler in what is now Mount Pleasant was John C. Goodspeed. He built a cabin on the east side of the river by 1853. A post office was established at Mount Pleasant in 1851, and it closed in 1974 because of lack of customers. The first store opened on Main Street near where present-day Maple Grove Road meets the river in 1855. By 1860, there were five businesses at Mount Pleasant: two stores, a blacksmith shop, a sawmill, and a grist mill. In 1865, one of the stores burned down and another became an ammunition store before closing again around 1870-71 due to financial problems. In 1904–05, Chas Swayne built an all-weather track for his horse farm between what is now Mapleton Avenue and North Greenbush Drive (now part of Wauwatosa). This track became known as Swayne's Trace after him. Swayne donated land for the park which includes most of today's Mount Pleasant village limits along with portions of North Greenbush Drive and Maple Grove Road (now US Highway 11). By 1910, there were nineteen businesses at Mountpleasant: four stores (one each from 1911 to 1912), three blacksmith shops (two each from 1912 to 1913), one sawmill (operated until 1918), one grocery store (operated until 1943), two schools—one public school serving grades K through 8th grade from 1915 to 1916 when it merged into Milwaukee County School District #2; one private school serving grades 9th through 12th grade from 1918 to 1923; two churches—a Methodist church that served until 1951; five residences—four single family houses dating back to 1861 totaling 104 feet 6 inches long by 50 feet wide by 10 feet deep with six stories or more; one tenement building erected about 1870 that served as both a house and garage for several years before being torn down circa 1975; and an electric Cooperative plant constructed about 1935 which supplied power to many homes throughout town including most of those buildings still standing today."

In 1925, when the entire town of Washington merged into Mount Pleasant, there were only 350 residents of Mountpleasant proper and 3,000 residents of Addison Township which served as annexing territory for both towns. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land.
The first white settlers in Mount Pleasant were James and Sarah Morse. The Morse brothers started the first store in Mount Pleasant, which was called the "Morse House." The store was open for about a year before it was destroyed by a fire. The next white settler in Mountpleasant was John Sibley. Sibley built himself a cabin on the hill above the store. He also started a post office in Mount Pleasant. In 1814, Reverend Jonas Hill founded the Methodist Episcopal Church in Mount Pleasant. Reverend Hill is credited with starting the school system in Mountpleasant.
