There is handgun history in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin dating back to 1849. The first gun in the town was a shotgun that belonged to Solomon Welles. In 1855, there were five handguns in Mount Pleasant. By 1861, there were thirteen handguns in the town. In 1868, the Colt revolver was introduced into the United States and Mount Pleasant became the first city to have one available for purchase.
Mount Pleasant is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,976 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Mount Pleasant was founded by farmers in 1854 and named for General John Porter, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later served as governor of Wisconsin. The first post office in Mount Pleasant was established on December 7, 1855, with Waukesha as its name holder. The first settler in what is now Mount Pleasant was John Prentice, who arrived on horseback from Virginia on November 3, 1854. He built a cabin near present day Uniontown and named it after himself and his father-in-law storeowner Jonathan Oldham (died 1892). There were several other early settlers before 1840 when General William Clarke moved to this area from Ottawa County, Illinois to develop land given him by Governor David Choate for $1 per acre ($10 per km²). By 1850 there were over 100 people living around Uniontown lakeshore where he built mills and stores including a bakery that still stands today called Cushman & Wakefield Trading Company which became one of the largest flour mills in America thanks to Braniff Airways purchasing it from them in 1944 In 1857 two brothers – Lemuel Fenton and George Stephenson – came downriver from Duluth with their boat Whitefish to start a successful woolen mill at what is now known as West Allis[2][3][4] In 1861 Samuel Hill started an unsuccessful attempt to dam the Chicago River just upstream from present day Mount Pleasant while under contract by Major John Taylor of Fort Dearborn [5] The village grew rapidly during this time with many residents coming downriver to take advantage of new opportunities such as education offered by local colleges like UW–Madison which had opened its doors only three years earlier During World War II Germans invaded Poland but did not invade western United States until September 1939 when they invading through Canada into Quebec through Lac La Biche then across Lake Superior into Minnesota before moving towards Milwaukee Ohioans successfully defended their city limits against Nazi invaders[6] On July 5th 1945 German troops surrendered at Reichenbach am Inn following five days of heavy fighting throughoutGermany leading up to its capitulation To commemorate these events locals gathered together to erect a memorial stone dedicated specifically to American service members killed or missing during World War II located off High Street east of town center

Mount Pleasant was founded in 1847 by John C. Dearborn and his wife, Martha. The town was named for a mountain near the original site. The Dearborn family donated land to the town, and Mount Pleasant began as a small farming community. In 1892, the town became a city and was renamed Mount Pleasant after its first mayor, Levi Morton. In 1915, Mount Pleasant became one of the towns in Racine County that joined the Wisconsin State Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds were used until 1998 when they were moved to Green Bay because of their length and size. During the fairgrounds' time, Mountpleasant had an annual population of around 30 people. After years of decline in population and economic activity during the late 1990s and 2000s, Mountpleasant has seen a resurgence in recent years with an estimated population of around 60 people as of 2018
Mount Pleasant was founded by John Fetterman in 1847. It was named for Mount Pleasant, a hill near the town site. The first store in Mount Pleasant was built in 1854. In 1865, the town plat was filed and it became a part of the Town of Milwaukee on October 1, 1865. In 1879, Mount Pleasant had a population of 275 people and it became an incorporated community with a government led by a board of trustees. The first post office opened in Mount Pleasant on November 3, 1879. In 1902, the name of the town changed to Watertown after Watertown, Wisconsin (then Racine) annexed it as part of its territory. The First World War changed everything for Mountpleasant residents when they were asked to leave their homes for military service. Many people from around the area decided to move into Watertown so that they could be close to all of the new opportunities that were opening up during wartime. After war ended and things returned to normal, many people chose to return back home again and continue living there until they died or moved away again during their lifetime. Watertown continued to grow as an urban center throughout most of the 20th century with its population reaching over 10,000 by 1970-71
