They found that the traditional wooden bow and arrow could not provide the necessary strength and stability for these tasks. They needed a new way to carry their cargo. The farmers came up with the idea of using two bipods to support the load and create an unstable platform. This system was successful, and they began to use bipods for carrying goods around town. Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin is a small town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 7,848 at the 2010 census and 8,521 at the 2016 census. The Mount Pleasant ZIP code is 54609. The first people to settled in what would become Mount Pleasant were the Menomonee Sioux in 1824-25. They built a small log cabin on the banks of the Old Wabash River. A post office was founded here in 1830, and by 1835 there were about 25 settlers living hereabouts. The first school in Mount Pleasant was organized on November 10, 1830 by Rev. John Prentice with six pupils under his direction. The first teacher was Mrs Jane Fenton who taught for one year before moving to Racine to start her own school district thereon on December 1st of that year (1831). In 1832-33 Reverend Mr James Hildebrandt operated a Lutheran School which served grades K-12 until 1840 when it closed because of financial difficulties caused by Indian Removal policies then being enacted by President Andrew Jackson! A new school building was erected on Main Street around 1840 which functioned as an academy until 1851 when it became part of Racine City Schools District #1 after Racine's annexation into Milwaukee County! In 1865-66 Dr George Ladd moved from Green Bay to open a dispensary for mental hospital patients near present day Mount Pleasant Elementary School; this provided medical care for many early settlers hereabouts! In 1898 Prairie View A&M University purchased land adjacent to present day Mountpleasant Elementary School from Dr Ladd for use as their main campus until 1903 when they sold it back to him!!! On May 16th 1902 Mt Pleasant had its incorporation as a village with boundaries laid out at Seventh and Olive Streets! This coincided with Racine becoming an incorporated city Limits town dated October 15th 1907!!!!! By 1915 all but two buildings within the limits of today's Village had been built!!!! With over 12 years experience as a village we can say that we put up our big tent and started functioning like a real village!!! We have participated in many civic events throughout our history including serving on various committees such as making improvements to schools, creating roads & bridges etc... We are proud to be known as "MountpleasantVillage"

Mount Pleasant was platted in 1847 and named for George Washington Mount, an early settler. The first post office at Mount Pleasant was established on July 1, 1851. The town began to grow rapidly after it was made a dry township in 1857. In 1870, the county government purchased land from the original owners of what would become Mount Pleasant and incorporated it as a village. In 1888, the name of the village was changed to Mount Pleasant proper. In 1902, three brothers – John Hargrave (1854-1938), Harry Hargrave (1859-1942) and Maurice Hargrave (1860-1941) – founded Hargrave Brothers Dairy products company in Mountpleasant. The company became one ofthe largest dairy producers in Wisconsin before it merged with Amoco Corporation in 1970. John Hargrave retired from his role as CEO in 2007 and died that year; Harry Hargrave continued to lead the company until his death in 2018; Maurice Hargrive also left his role as CEO but continued to produce milk Products until his death two years later
On Mount Pleasant, a small town in central Wisconsin, the first white settlers arrived in 1838. The town was named for General David Potter, who helped lead the Wisconsin Battalion of the Union Army during the Civil War. Mount Pleasant became a township in 1868 and a city in 1907. In 1960, Mount Pleasant became part of Milwaukee.
