One of the earliestHolsters was patented by Amos Kendall in 1868. Kendall's design featured an inside-out loop with a metal band around it to hold the gun parallel to your body while you wore it. He also designed what is now known as a "Belt Holster" which consisted of two straps around your waist held together by webbing or leather strips that ran down your sides. Belt holsters were used primarily by law enforcement officers but have been replaced by more modern designs over time due to their convenience and adaptability.
