Middleton, Wisconsin is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 4,859 at the 2010 census. Middleton is located in Green Bay County and is part of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area. Middleton was founded in 1855 by Master Builder John Wohlgemuth and his wife Eliza Miller as a small farming community on the east side of Green Bay. The town name comes from its location midway between two forks of the Kettle River, which flows through both town and county. The first post office in Middleton was established on July 7, 1856, with James Higgs as the first mail carrier. The present post office building was built in 1913 and renovated in 2001-2002. In 1907, Middleton became home to one of America's first agricultural fairs when it hosted the Midwest Agricultural Showcase events at its Grounds Park pavilion. In 1922, Middleton became an incorporated village when it joined what is now Milwaukee County; however, village status was retained until 1959 when it merged with neighboring Iron Ridge Township to form what is now Midland Township. In 1958-1959, during Republican Govan Tarrant's administration as Wisconsin governor, he proposed that all towns within Milwaukee County become villages because he felt that this would promote economic growth within those communities while reducing urban congestion and improved transportation options for residents living outside of Milwaukee County. After much discussion among members of his cabinet and other officials involved with rural rural policy at the time, Tarrant's proposal passed into law as part of "The Towns Act". As a result of this change in policy – which took effect January 1st 1960 – all but three (Alma Terrace/Houston Heights; Arroyo Grande/Mission Hills; Menasha) of Bucks County's 10 municipalities were granted village status under new rules created by then-Gov.-elect Earl Warren (D). After years of steady growth due to increased job opportunities brought about by manufacturing jobs throughout central Wisconsin following World War II and subsequent suburbanization across central Illinois and Indiana respectively – especially along I-90 corridor – middle class families began moving out into more affordable outer suburbs such as Arlington Heights or Apple Valley over the past few decades beginning around 1990s according to demographer Daniel Kahneman & Angus Deaton’s book "The Demise Of American Localism" (Prentice Hall Press). This migration has impacted not just inner city neighborhoods adjacent to big box stores or high powered professional sports stadiums like Soldier Field or Wrigley Field but also less populated Eisenhower Ave., Racine St., Mishawaka Ave., etc.; these areas have seen significant declines in their populations relative to their nearby downtown cores since 2000–2010 according to Census data compiled byPopulation Research Services Incorporated (PRS). While there has been some recent resurgence back inside older downtown cores where young people are starting businesses or finding creative ways to make use of vacant storefronts – most notably on Main Street near Navy Pier – overall population trends indicate that middle class families have increasingly shifted away from older inner city neighborhoods towards more diverse outer suburbs over time regardlessof whether they live inside large metropolitan areas like Chicago or New York City where intra-city competition for jobs seems almost unlimited given their respective economies' size& scope

Middleton is located on the north side of Madison and has a rich history dating back to its founding in 1836 as a small farming community. Middleton's roots go back to the 1800s when it was part of the fertile Black River Valley. The town was named after Captain John Middleton who served in the U.S. Army during the Mexican-American War and later became an American politician. Middleton owes its start to two factors: its location on Black River and its connection to early pioneers such as Joel Paris, Josiah Gregg and James Atkinson. When John Middleton first arrived in 1836, he founded what would become Middleton on land that had been purchased from the Potawatomi Nation for $1,000 cash by his brother-in-law Ethan Allen! By 1840, there were over 100 people living in Middleton – including many farmers and their families who had come from adjacent villages such as Racine and West Allis. The town grew rapidly during this time and soon boasted a brick schoolhouse (1840), three churches (1846), two stores (1850), four blacksmiths (1851), two sawmills (1858) and five dairy farms (1861). During this time, much of what we now know about Middleton comes from historical records – like deeds, maps or household items that have survived through time and are still visible today. One particular item that researchers are particularly interested in is an early wagon wheel found near downtown Middleton which is believed to date back to around 1830! One interesting note about EarlyMiddleTON's growth is that many of these businesses were started by women – like Lydia Goodyear whose store opened up next door to Mrs Hinkle’s School House in 1850″ This reflected middle class values at the time which demanded more women control their own lives thanependence on menfolk for most things! In 1857, when Gideon supervised construction of State Capitol Building across North Main Street from where he lived, he commented “I have seen but one house since I came here…It will be very necessary for me now if I live within easy walking distance both ways [to attend] public meetings held here every day; but until then I shall situate myself some place out of reach” In spite of his concerns about State Capitol construction activities taking up so much space inside his home building (!), Gideon continued serving as superintendent until 1862 when he retired due to poor health conditions caused by stress from his position - making him only one active superintendent among many who served during this time period! Many important political events took place while Gideon was superintendent including: Congress passing Coinage Act #1035 called for 2 1/4% silver coins instead of 3/8% gold so silver could be used more efficiently in commerce; passage of First Readings Bill giving residents right to vote without acertain ID; passage allowing aliens brought into America under specific laws – like those relating To Slavery – temporary residency permits valid for 3 years; Indiana becoming a state joining Ohio & Michigan creating new western border states; United States entered into Treaty with Great Britain providing immunity from war with England while also granting land eastward including present day Wisconsin
