(founded 1901), KFC restaurant (opened 1955), JCPenney Co.'s Neighborhood Store #1(opened 1959) and several churches including St John's Lutheran Church & First United Methodist Church (#2 built 1912) which have all played an important role within community life over the years. Middleton is also known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration which takes place October 17-21 each year at venues around the town including Pabst Park and Hellenic Coliseumgrounds.

They named the village after Sir William Middleton, an English Gentleman who had led an expedition against the Ojibwe Indians in 1792. The first store in Middleton opened in 1836. A post office was established here in 1841. By 1830, there were only about seventy-five residents living here. By 1850, however, there were two hundred people living here and by 1860 there were four hundred residents living here. In 1930, it became a part of Milwaukee County and now it has a population of just under three thousand inhabitants. The history ofMiddleton goes back many years and can be traced back to at least 1626 when Daniel Defoe wrote his book " Robinson Crusoe ". Many early settlers came to Middleton from Holland because that is where they found work on fur farms or as merchants selling goods bought from other parts of America during that time period. One such pioneer was John Hendrix who arrived in 1786 with his family and started a gristmill which still stands today at 614 Main Street (now called Hwy 101). He also founded what is now known as Hendrix Academy whichopened its doors in 1805-6; later renamed Vickers School District No 9 after Colonel David Vickers who donated land for it along with other educational institutions in Milwaukee County including Waukesha High School (now Milford High School) and Racine High School (now Racine Central High School). Another pioneer was Isaac Phelps who moved his family from New York City in 1796 and started clearing land for a permanent home near present day downtown Middleton along Hwy 101A (later known as State Highway 100). He also founded what is now known as Phelps’ Chapel which opened its doors on May 8th, 1800; later renamed Holy Cross Catholic Church after him due to pressure from some religious leaders within Milwaukee County to name their churches after saints rather than geographical features like rivers or lakes because those features couldappear on maps . More recent settlers include Harry Sorensen who came to Middleton from Norway in 1902 and started raising cows on premises he owned east of present day First Avenue North before moving them across country where he built up a grocery empire that included stores throughout Wisconsin before dying suddenly at age eighty-four years old .
