Middleton is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the eastern border of the county of Dodge County and within the town boundaries of Middleton Village. Middleton was founded in 1874 as a small community near where present day Highway 60 crosses Dodge Creek. It was named for George Washington Middleton who had purchased land in that area in 1853. The first post office opened in Middleton on July 12, 1874 under the name Newtonville after neighboring Newton Township (now Dodge County). The first settler was Ira Henson who arrived with his family in 1875 from Canada viaanticipated wagon trainride across country; he built a log cabin on what is now State Road 61 just east of current day Main Street which served as their home for over fifty years before moving into his own property north of town along with other early settlers including John Pritchard and Christopher Myers (the latter two also later became major landowners hereabouts) In 1896 when Dodge County formed out of partof Rice County it included all present day Milwaukee suburbs save Middleton Village which still lay within Rice County boundary until 1959 when it became part of Milwaukee proper .As a resultof this changein jurisdictional boundaries Vernon Sorenson bought largely contiguous pieceof real estate lying south from downtownMilwaukee extending eastwardto State Road 21 encompassing much or allpresentdayWaukeshaCountyandsouthwestfromMiddlesontownincludingmuchorallpresentdayDodgeCounty .This acquisition createdoneofthelargest comprehensiveagriculturalpioneersettlementsinamericaafterthe American Civil War A new post office called Northridge was established at what is now State Road 61 & US Highway 431 on November 1, 1901 following an act passed by Congress entitled "An Act to Provide for More efficient Administration of Post Offices" which aimed to improve postal service throughout America According to legend many pioneer families associated with Northridge such as those mentioned above donated their homes and land grants totaling some 12 acres (500m²) overlooking today's Main Street intersection however no evidence exists verifying this story Additionally according to local lore if you go out front door today there were once more than 20 residences built onto these properties during its heyday! Today only four remain - Three houses belonging to members oltheMiddleTONVillageCommunity Development Organization (MTCDO), one being occupied by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Extension Service

Middleton has been inhabited by people since before there were any Native Americans in this area. In 1837, James Hennepin County was organized, and Middleton became one of its first towns. The first settlers in what would become Middleton arrived from Illinois in 1834 and named their new community after an old family home in that state which they had recently moved to from Racine, Wisconsin. After coming to this new location they began to build log cabins which still stand today as evidence of their early settlement here. In 1840, when a post office was established at Middleton, it was one of only a few places west of Chicago where mail could be sent directly to farmers or other residents living along the Fox River valley without going through Chicago or outside the Milwaukee metropolitan area1. That same year saw another milestone for Middleton as it became one of only two towns within Hennepin County that passed a vote to annex more land into the county2-3; the other being Apple Valley (now Racine). With these various accomplishments over time, Middleton quickly grew into one of Wisconsin's most important communities4-5; hosting weekly agricultural fairs featuring local produce and selling items such as flour, butter and eggs from its own storefront6-7; playing host to religious services during Lent8-9; serve as village center10-11; becoming known for its many manufacturing plants12-13; even hosting car shows14-15! Today much like when it initially came into being - thanks largely to continued growth and investment by its citizens - Middleton remains an active community with many culturally rich traditions dating back centuries16-17 including musical events such as Big Band Blues Touring Days18-19 while also enjoying numerous cultural attractions20 including The Great Lakes Aquarium21 which is open 365 days per year!
