Thisgun allowed armies such as Genghis Khan’s Mongol Empire to destroy cities with impunity while being able to reload quickly using horseback Riders! The popularity of shotguns led to their widespread use throughout Europe during the 18th century including in battles between Napoleonic France and Austria (see Firing squad drills - practice firing squads)). Shotguns became institutionalized in many countries during this time including America where they served in both militia and law enforcement forces until well into the 20th century (see New England Patriots victory against Baltimore Colts -Shotgun drill)). During World War II handgunsdominated battlefield firepower but some soldiers resorted to using shotguns when available due NRA guidelines mandating that all combat infantry must carry guns regardless of rank/disability (See regulation 7 Service Rifle Ammunition Requirements - see picture below)). HoweverDespite handgun bans during World War II most civilians kept handguns even though availability increased significantly with gun registration programs initiated after 1945 (See National Firearms Act Amendments of 1934)).
