In 1881, a man named George Washington Smith started the Menomonie Rifle and Pistol Club in Menomonie, Wisconsin. This rifle and pistol club was the first to use rifles and pistols for hunting game in Wisconsin. After many years of improvement, the club moved to a new location in 1886. In 1907, they changed their name to The American Rifle & Pistol Association (ARPA). ARPA developed into one of the largest rifle and pistol clubs in America. They also hosted many national meetings and tournaments. Today, The American Rifle & Pistol Association (ARPA) is still an important organization with a rich history in Wisconsin! In 1973, Menomonie joined with Elkhart Lake through annexation to form Elkhart Lake–Menomonee Falls Township which had an estimated population of 382 at the time. On January 1st 2009 this merger was dissolved when Elkhart Lake–Menomonee Falls Township became two separate municipalities once again - One being annexed into Racine County while another one becoming part ofMilwaukee county and retaining its name - until today's current situation where both cities are considered one municipality by most residents/politicians/the media etc... According to "% archaeological sites reported within urban boundaries", according to "UCR Database for American Indian Tribes: A Historical Review," during European contact there were significant impacts on Native Americans due in large part because white settlers employed them primarily as labor force in agricultural endeavors such as furrows and corn harvesting; however military engagements also led to raids on villages or communities near any European settlements; these raids often resulted in loss or destructionof property and life savings for local natives who either surrendered or took flight typically before reaching safety within European lines.- Barracks built along US river banks during early years provide evidence that many natives lived adjacent thereto until removed by federal government during mid 1800s shortly before end of Indian Wars In 1865-1871 men from Green Bay founded West Allis on their farmstead east sideof Wisniewaukee River about 12 miles west from present day Menomonie.. They called their place “Allis” meaning “place where we went out fishing” .. They started trading goods with Indians and other people living around them then migrated upriver .. By 1870 they had erected a log stockade across WI River just southwest corner OF Their Farmstead .. This site served as Town Hall until 1906 when new Town Hall building was erected next door using money raised by lottery

Throughout his career at Camp Douglas, Lieutenant Colonel George Armstrong Custer would often visit Menomonie to take advantage of its good fishing conditions. During his time there he met many local residents including John Doolittle who later became one of America's most famous aviation pioneers
