Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin is a small town located in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,524 at the 2010 census. Menomonee Falls is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha Metropolitan Area. The village is home to the Menomonee Falls Folklife Center and the Menomonee Falls Museum. It has a ZIP code of 54262. The name Menomonee means "the falls" in Potawatomi Indian language and it may have been named for Chief Menomena's daughter Manitougei (Majo), who accompanied her father on his trips down the River Kawkabeen to generate power for houses back in 1847. In English, Menomonee means "peaceful place." According to folklore, early settlers were attracted to the natural beauty of this region which included long stretches of clear water known as "the falls." After seeing a painting by Peter Paul Rubens that depicted an angel descending from Heaven with a conch shell in hand and holding up her left hand while throwing its contents into the river below, one woman donated land for development on what would become Menomonee Falls Village. A post office was established at the site in 1857 and mail was delivered until 1974 from two buildings on Main Street; one still stands today as part of Community Bank building #1 within Village limits. In 1890s there were two mills in town – White & Brown’s mill that ground flour for families living around townExceptional stone work done by men during this time helped make possible these beautiful homes built during this time also including: First Baptist Church steeple built 1898-1902 Second Presbyterian church built 1907-11 addition completed 1912 Now called First Unitarian Universalist Congregation Monroe Hill congregation (First United Methodist) Incorrectly stated fact statement on website says “Church bells started ringing here too!” This story is not true! One early bell may have been cast at White & Brown’s mill although it isn’t certain which one because no evidence exists to support it being so. Additionally during this time new school districts were created all through Dane County including Green Bay but never did they share facilities or students with neighboring towns such as Menomonie Falls; only when necessary did schools move across county lines ie: Waukesha County Schools became Milwaukee District 127 It wasn't until 1915 when first high school classes graduated from Anamosa High School that instructional services moved into our current high school building which incidentally still stands today adjacent to our old Post Office where classes started back then too

In 1902, Menomonee Falls was renamed to Walkerstown after Representative George Custer (R-Walkerstown). At this time, Walkerstown became one of the most important economic centers in central Wisconsin due to its location close to both Milwaukee and St Pauls businesses. Today, Walkerstown remains an important cultural center for central WI with its many festivals and events year round
