There have been firearms in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin for over a century. The first guns were brought over by the Dutch in 1636 and were used to hunt deer and other game. Over time, guns became more common and people began using them to protect themselves from animals and robbers. In 1871, Menomonee Falls was incorporated as a village. In that year, the town of Milwaukee was founded on the east side of the river by mistake. The townspeople thought they would get richer off of men moving into Milwaukee than they would from men living in Menomonee Falls. So they set up shop on the west side of the river and didn’t realize that their business wouldn’t work as well because there wasn’t enough customers coming to their store to make it worth their while. However, things changed when John Brown came through town with his wagon train on November 9th, 1871. He had heard about what was going on in Menomonee Falls and decided to come check out what all the commotion was about. When he got there, he saw that some people were trying to burn down the village hall (the building where government meetings took place). He quickly called for help and together with a few other brave souls, they managed to save most of the buildings before getting back into town safely. The Town Hall still stands today and is used as a museum today! John Brown is also memorialized at Maple Lake near Menomonee Falls for his bravery!

The townsite had been under private ownership since its establishment but it reverted to municipal control on January 1, 1866 when Racine County was created. On October 25, 1870 Menomonee Falls became the county seat for Racine County when Waukesha County was divided into two parts and Racine County absorbed the entire eastern half of Waukesha County including Menomonee Falls into its boundaries

The original post office was established in 1856 and named Menomonee Falls after the falls. Today, Menomonee Falls has a population of about 1,200 people. The town is located on the banks of the River Michigan near its confluence with the Menomonee River. The name “Menomonee” comes from the Kickapoo word "meno" meaning “waterfall” and "nones" meaning “town” or “village”. The first settlers were German immigrants who arrived around 1800 and built log cabins on an overlook above the falls. In 1854, two brothers—George and Jacob Weiser—founded the village of Menomonee Falls on land they had acquired east of present-day downtown Menomonee Falls. They named their new settlement for their hometown in Ontario, Canada—the falls being located upstream at that time. In 1860, George Weiser donated 6 acres (2 hectares) to his brother Jacob for use as a campus for Mennonite Central School (later known as Waukesha County Community College). After World War II ended, when many American men returned to their homes countrysafter serving in war efforts abroad and until 1957 when they could no longer do so because they met combat service criteria under Section 8 of the GI Bill Amendments Act of 1946 which made it difficult for them to remain permanently in America following discharge from military service; many residents decided to stay behind and raise families here instead of moving back home again like so many others had done since 1946; this led to what is now known as "The Glorious Generation". After World War II most Americans left their towns due to economic reasons such as high taxes rates caused by government interventionism during that era; however those few remaining chose instead to form community colleges throughout America which offered training opportunities outside traditional job markets thereby preserving some degree of local control over educational institutions despite large numbers thereof becoming nationalized during WWII like public universities were throughout most westernEurope . In 1951 Menomonee Falls voters elected Caryl Fenton as Mayoralty candidate against incumbent Russ Henschel with over 50% voter turnout although Henschel had been mayoralty candidate 3 times before! A year later residents passed a resolution calling for Congresswoman Barbara Mikulski's election as U.S Senator from Washington Dc., something she would not consider until her retirement 20 years later but helped achieve while serving collegesthe first female senator from Wisconsin! Many people feel that city manager Don Neuman did a great job running our city during these hard times- we really appreciate all he did!
