Litsch listed the use of “grits of alumine” as an effective means of preventing rust on firearms. In 1892, Menasha Gunsmith shop owner John Hargrave began selling gun oil to customers in his store. His shop was the first gun dealership in Menasha and he sold both ammunition and firearm lubricants until 1925. Lubricant sales increased during World War II because many men were drafted into military service and had to rely on their firearms for self-defense. Sales peaked at $2 million in 1945, but declined after the war ended. Ammunition lubricant sales increased again during the early 1950s due to postwar demand for new rifles and pistols with higher octane ratings than older guns that used standard engine oil. However, gun lubricant sales decreased thereafter because most people now relied on synthetic fuel for their automobiles instead of traditional engine oils for their firearms

Menasha, Wisconsin is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,531 at the 2010 census. It is the smallest of the 11 towns in Door County. Menasha is located on the east side of the county and is bordered by Ralston to the north, Sheboygan to the east, New Berlin to the south and Menasha Township to the west. The first European settler in Menasha was John Alder who erected a log cabin in 1793. In 1836, Nathan Jorgensen settled in Menasha and built a large frame house which he named "Alder's Estate". A post office called Menasha was established in 1837, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1908. In 1850, William Dickey set out from Milwaukee with his family for what would become Door County. He arrived at what is now Menasha on July 4th of that year and founded a trading post which he named "Dickey's Ferry". Dickey's Ferry served as an early transportation hub for men traveling between Milwaukee and Door County. His son-in-law Wm Fenton took over running Dickey's Ferry from father to son beginning around 1870. In 1871–72 local farmers formed a grain Elevator Company which shipped flour from various points throughout Door County into Chicago for shipment downriver to other markets across America. This business eventually became known as Northwestern Hoeing Company Ltd., renamed Kenosha Packers & Stockyards Incorporated in 1984 after merging with three other companies controlled by Kenneth Laybeck (the founder of Enron). As part of its history Kenosha has been home to one Prosumer Carpet Cleaners factory () since 1955 while also hosting two branches of Sears Roebuck & Co., one original store being opened here on Main Street (@ 930 N State St) back before that company moved into their present headquarters (now Fishtown Mall) just northwest of townCenter when that mall opened up! After World War II many people returned home following war service or leaving for new opportunities elsewhere including some who had fled Germany during Adolf Hitler's 1933 dictatorship including Gustav Wehner who reopened his bakery/grocery store on Main Street (@ 711 W State St) prior to then moving it uptown near Waukesha avenue later becoming known as Wehner's Bakerywehner Taproom contributing importantly thereto noted local historian Don Greenstein having once written about this grocery store situation noting "Gustav Wehner closed his bakery/grocery store upon his return from WW2 because he could not compete withKenosha Packers & Stockyards" reopening only seventy years later! In fact even though most businesses have changed hands many aspects remain much like they were when Gustav wehner originally operated them such as: building number (current), street address etc... yet another reminder why it’s so great to live close enough TO History! After all these years we still get comments about how good everything usedto be @ our current location?!?

Menasha is a town in Dodge County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,945 at the 2010 census. Menasha is part of the Green Bay–West Allis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Menasha was Isaac Wisbey, who arrived in 1834. He built a cabin on the east side of current Main Street. The first school in Menasha was founded in 1837 by Mrs. John Ransom and Dr. George Fenton. In 1840, Menasha had a population of only 10 people and it was known as "the little village." In 1847, John Cochrane started an agricultural empire with his purchase of 2,500 acres (1 km2) of land near Menasha for $5 per acre ($ today). Cochrane became one of the most successful farmers in all of Wisconsin and he is credited with helping to create the Great Lakes region by initiating major railroad construction within that area. One highlight of Cochrane's career came when he donated land to the University of Wisconsin-Madison so that it could be used as a research center Campus Rd., now called Post Road NW., which helped lay the foundation for what would become Madison's storied university culture and economy. In 1857, Menasha had its first post office which opened at 9am under General Order No. XXVII from Governor Lucius Noyes*. This order mandated that all new towns must have their own post office and served as an important way to promote mail delivery among small villages like Menasha without having to rely on larger towns for service.* It wasn't until 1861 thatMenasha received its name from Davenport Township founder Isaac Wisbey: "Mensa" means 'bridge' in German and this name was given to him because he wanted his town situated across from Davenport Creek so that settlers would be able to see mena (water) crossings easily.* In 1865, due to increasing railroad traffic through town and resulting increased taxes*, John Cochrane sold his business interests in Menasha* and donated all proceeds back into the community* making it one hundred percent self-supporting† This demonstrates how important responsible financial management was during those early days when communities were nascent * *. In 1903*, when Dodge County formed under statehood*, Menacha became part of Green Bay Municipal District #4 along with Janesville** [*]. It wasn’t until 1935 when Dodge County annexed Green Bay Township proper that Menasca finally lost its status as a separate municipality* . Despite this long history*, there has never been any annexation or merger between neighboring municipalities; each community continues administratively independent† . Today, despite some industrialization taking place over time (*), menashians remain largely rural economic engines still providing valuable services such as agricultural production & transportation while also maintaining their strong sense of community values**
