Marshfield is a town in the town ofKENNETH, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 6,895 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–St. Paul metropolitan statistical area. The first Europeans to visit Marshfield were French traders and missionaries in 1763 who named it "Marechal" after Sieur de La Tour d'Ambert, captain of their ship "Vendeuse". The name was soon changed to Marshfield because of its marshy soils. The first settler was John Goodrich who built a cabin on the banks of the Menominee River in 1833. Theodore Roosevelt's nephews purchased land around what is now Marshfield from Nicholas unsuccessfully running for Congress in 1892. They donated most of their holdings to Marshfield Township when they formed that township four years later. At that time there were only six families living in Marshfield Township and only one business had been started since it was organized: a grocery store operated by John Howells during World War I. In 1925, limits on township membership were imposed as part of consolidation with neighboring Kenosha County; thus, many early residents left for other townships within Kenosha County or statewide communities such as Racine and Milwaukee. More recent arrivals have included people employed directly by businesses or entrepreneurs within the village itself rather than through larger municipalities like Green Bay and Milwaukee which have more comprehensive services available to their citizens The population increased rapidly following World War II due to immigration from Europeespecially from Hungaryand Southern Asia.. tractor production became prominent here due to advances made by companies like Deere and GM.. Today, many small businesses are inactive but many continue operations thanks to village-wide support programs like marketing/advertising/public relations/the ever present recycling program According to the 2000 US Census there were 5,717 people residing in Marshfield Township including both rural residents (99%) and those categorized as “non-rural” (1%). Of these numbers 1% lived below poverty line while 98% possessed some form of identification! Outlying villages include White Sands (population 2), South Range (population 3), North Range (population 4) and East Range (population 5).

Marshfield is a town in Marinette County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,847 at the 2010 census. It has been part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area since 1971. The first settler in Marshfield was John Purdy who arrived on July 3, 1836. He and his wife Sarah (née Goodrich) built a cabin on the east side of what is now Main Street. They were the first known European settlers in Marshfield Township which was named for Samuel Marsh, an Englishman who had settled in Racine County in 1823. The Purdy Cabin still stands today and is a museum property. In 1840, James Laughlin moved to Marshfield from Racine and began farming land that he later turned into town borders and streets. In 1845, he married Rachel Stout from Mayacaqua Township near present-day Waukesha. Rachel's parents were Isaac Stout and Martha Cooksey ofMayacaqua Township; their father also ran a grocery store there for many years before moving to Racine to enter politics there in 1865.) In 1846, David Jankowski arrived from Holland with his family and began growing wheat at what is now west end of town center on High Street north of Broadway Avenue (then called Court Road). Jankowski operated both a gristmill which ground flour for local restaurants as well as his own bakery three blocks south on State Road 8062 until it closed down around 1925 due to high water levels caused by heavy rains during the great Milwaukee Flood of 1944-1945 Jameson & Son mercantile store opened its doors on December 12th 1854 by brothers Johnjonston & Jameson outfitting travelers for their trip through western Wisconsin . It was located at 5th St., just east of downtown where it remains today as First National Bank building #1 . After Johnjonston passed away circa 1888 Jameson took over operations but failed twice to keep up with times changes making him bankrupt several times finally closing shop in 1916 when Prohibition made it difficult for any business owners other than liquor dealers to operate without being raided by the police
