Marshfield is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,868 at the 2010 census. The unincorporated communities of Allendale and Batesville are located in the town. The first settlers to the area were from New England. They built log cabins and started a small shop on what is now Main Street. By 1836, they had developed a larger community and named it Marshfield after General John A. Marsh who fought against Native Americans in the Dakota War of 1876. In 1881, the town was moved from its original location to its present location on the east side of Clear Lake near where US-14 crosses it today. The name comes from an early settler's farm which lay along both banks of Clear Lake. In 1892, local farmers organized a grain elevator to ship their product farther downriver for processing into breads and other products that would be sold in cities such as Milwaukee and Chicago. This led to Marshfield becoming one of the most Business-friendly towns in Wisconsin during that time period! Today, many businesses still operate within the limits of Marshfield – including several banks, four restaurants/cafés, two health care clinics (one specialize in mental health services), three churches (including one with acreage), two schools (one public and one private), an agricultural center providing services such as haying and planting crops, as well as offers classes for kids starting at age 4 or 6 about various subjects related to farming or industry; four golf courses within easy reach; five parks; three lakes - all with fishing privileges; water skiing on Clear Lake; RVing available on Big Cedar Creek just north of town limits; events like Harvestfest every Fourth weekend include concerts/paintball contests etc.; and plenty more!

Marshfield is a town in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,819 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–Fond du Lac Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was organized in 1836 and named for General Anthony Marsh. The first stores were built in Marshfield on the east side of the river. In 1856, a gristmill was built and became one of the largest mills in Wisconsin. The mill closed in 1903 but left a lasting legacy as one of the most important cultural artifacts from Marshfield's early years. The town has had several other economic successes including becoming home to many manufacturing companies over the years such as Belknap Ceramics, Sharp Corp., and Wernicke Glass Company. The local economy has also been buoyed by agriculture which includes corn production and dairy farming along with some light Manufacturing activity such as an auto parts store and a truck dealership that closed around 2005 but left an architectural legacy known as "The Works"
