Marshfield, Wisconsin is a small town in the eastern portion of the United States. It is located in Dane County, Minnesota and was founded on November 1, 1854. The population was 906 at the 2010 census. The name comes from the Marsh family which settled here in 1847. The area that now makes up Marshfield was first settled by Norwegian farmers in the 1840s. They named their new land Kalsnesdriften after Count Axel Bernadotte of Sweden who donated land for a school and church in 1844. A post office called Kalsnesdriften was established in 1845, and remained open until it was discontinued in 1865. When America gained its independence from Great Britain, many of these Norwegian settlers decided to stay and fight for freedom instead of emigrating to North America. In 1795, John marshall moved his family to what is now Marshfield from Hennepin County, Minnesota because he felt that living under British rule would be more difficult than living under American rule. He built a log cabin here on December 14th, 1846; this was soon followed by another home which he named Gull island after his 2 year old daughter Gullie (Island). The original village had 7 buildings including a blacksmith shop, storehouse, doctor's office and 4 churches: one Lutheran (1853), one Methodist (1856), one Presbyterian (1859) and one Congregationalist (1860). In 1860-61 there were also 3 schools: one public ($1 per pupil), one private ($3 per student) and two academy schools for boys ($4 per student each). One important event that occurred during this time period is when local farmer Josiah Sawyer set up a wagon wheel factory near present day Union Boulevard and Federal Road to provide work for his workers during the winter months when no other businesses were open due to snowstorm conditions. This helped support early residents of Marshfield as well as later generations who live here today! The late 1800s saw great changes take place throughout rural America with railroad construction starting up throughout Northwestern Minnesota as well as Iowa further west Kansas City had started flourishing with heavy industry – so much so that developers began calling this entire region “Midwestern Town” or simply “Mittsburgh” due to their large concentration of firms there! For years people thought that Marshall Field & Co., based out of Chicago would remain relatively unaffected by all this activity but they were not! In 1899 they merged with fellow Midwestern company Jardine Matheson & Co., creating one of the largest textile companies ever formed! At this time downtownMarshfield became known as “the cultural center of MidwestTown” thanks to numerous galleries/shows/ performances taking place there both before & after Steeles Ballroom! With Manufacturing waning as an economic driver within NorthwesternMinnesota over the next few decades various service sectors took over such as healthcare/agriculture/tourism etc… but finally DowntownMarshfield experienced some resurgence over recent years through several renovation projects coupled with development along University Avenue (& recently Union Blvd.) making it once again nationally recognized for its artsy vibe!

Marshfield is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 7,015 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Green Bay–West Allis metropolitan area. The first settler in Marshfield was David Sherman, who arrived in 1836. He and his family built a cabin on the east side of present-day Marshfield Lake. The first store in Marshfield opened in 1846 by Elijah Beal and his brother John Beal. In 1852, Vachel Bogan opened a grocery store on Main Street and became one of the early settlers in town. In 1865, two brothers named George and Hiram Griggs bought land adjoining present-day Marshfield Beach from Wm Hennepin County for $1,000 cash. They laid out a town on this land, which they called Griggsville after themselves. The first post office was established in Griggstown on October 9, 1865 (later renamed Prairie du Chien). When there were only 7 residents living in Griggstown when it started up shop, mail got delivered to Prairie du Chien by horseback because no horses could be found to take it down to town on foot! According to legend, when General James Kapp took possession of what is now Marshfield during the Mexican–American War he found caches of arms and ammunition hidden among some local trees near what is now Fourth Street/Milwaukee Avenue – these munitions would later form the nucleus around which future towns like Racine were founded! In 1870s and 1880s farmers began growing corn for Wilson’s Mill Company; within 10 years that operation had stopped due to low prices caused by overproduction from other industries during those decades! By 1890 wheat farming had become an important sector with 5 or 6 small grain mills serving surrounding villages; but soon after that came machine production as railroads reached Marshalltown (now Wausau) making transportation more efficient than ever before! This new industry quickly changed how much people ate – grains went off market as butter replaced them!! Marshfield experienced its peak prosperity between 1914-1918 during World War I with many businesses coming online such as 3M Paper Products (now Kimberly Clark), American Telephone & Telegraph Co., Jardine Matheson Shelf Life Insurance Company (later AIG), etc.; however following World War II many companies closed their doors including American Electric Power Company (AEP), United States Rubber Company (URC), Milwaukee Carpet Cleaners Inc., Girdner Electric Corp., etc.; all while people continued working at their jobs until retirement or death! During recent years there has been some redevelopment taking place with plans for mixed use development including retail space along 4th Street/Milwaukee Ave., office space near downtown Green Bay Airport Road/I-94 exit #7B/, hotel & casino project adjacent to Interstate 94 exit #5A/, etc.; but overall most activity seems centered around residential properties currently being rented out through various real estate firms!!!
Marshfield was founded in 1837 by Isaac A. Marsh and his wife, Sarah. It was the first town in the present-day county of Milwaukee. The town grew rapidly, and by 1854 it had a population of 1,500 people. In 1859, Marshfield became the seat of government for the new county ofMilwaukee. The early years of the twentieth century were difficult for Marshfield. The Great Depression hit the town hard, and many people left for better opportunities elsewhere. However, over time, Marshfield regained its self-esteem and began to thrive again. In recent years, there has been a movement to keep the old downtown district open as an arts district; this has led to increased business activity and economic development in Marshfield.
