Marinette is a small town in Wisconsin that was founded in 1849. The population of Marinette was 9,844 at the 2010 census. In 1944, World War II began and our town took on an all-encompassing role as military desertion prompted many soldiers to flee from Canada for the war effort in Europe. Many men from Marinette enlisted into the United States Army or Navy or served their countries overseas with distinction! Some even remain living here today (e.g., Roy Naiman)and continue contributing to our community through their work or volunteerism! Our WWII veterans have left behind a lasting legacy which can be seen throughout our town today: A strong sense of patriotism, servicemanship and public spiritedness is present throughout every aspect of life here!
