Bipods are a type of footgear that were first developed in the early 1800s. They became popular among soldiers and civilians alike because they allowed for easier movement on uneven ground. In addition to their civilian use, bipods were also used by the military during World War I to improve infantry mobility. The popularity of bipods led to their development into a full-fledged industry, and they continue to be used today.
Bipods are a type of rifle bipod that rely on a hinge mechanism to move the firearm from one position to another. The bipod's motion is controlled by an arm crank or linkage system, which uses feedback from the soldier's movement and ergonomics in order to maintain stability. Some early bipods used simple gearing systems, but more recent designs have evolved into a variety of design options. There are three main types of bipods: open-bolt, closed-bolt and modular. Open-bolt bipods are typically used with rifles that use gas-operated systems such as ARs and M4s, while closed-bolt bipods (sometimes also called "closed loop" or "Velcro") are used with infantry assault rifles and rifles using bolt action systems like the AK47 and FN FAL. Modular bipods allow for different attachment points on different locations on the weapon body in order to customize the sniper's shooting platform according to their specific needs. They are often available in two versions:those that use screwsdriver heads instead of screws for attaching attachment points, and those that use Allen wrenches for attaching points. Bipedal shooters can also attach monopods directly to their upper extremities through adapters known as "gripstickers."

Manitowoc is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River. The population was 8,811 at the 2010 census. The name comes from Manitou, an Indian word meaning "the place where good things come." Manitowoc began as a small village named Green Bay before becoming a town in 1836. It was merged with Waukesha to form the current municipality in 1966. The first settler in what is now Manitowoc County was George Washington Carver, who arrived in1839 and built a cabin near present-day Manitowoc. He named his new village Green Bay after his home country of Greece and he donated land for a Methodist church and other public buildings there in 1841. The first school in what is now Manitowoc County was organized by teacher John Ransom on December 1, 1846; it became known as "Carver School." In 1860, Drury College opened its doors here and soon became one of the largest agricultural colleges west of the Mississippi River. It was not until 1865 that the railroad reached this corner of Wisconsin when Milwaukee’s Northern Pacific Railway decided to build its line through this part of the county instead of taking it by boat across Lake Michigan as had been done before. At that time only 2 or 3 miles (3 or 4 kilometers) wide at best and lying completely within Forest Preserve No., except for a few scattered residences on high ground around present-day downtown Manitowoc, railroads were very much an unknown quantity hereabouts... In spite of these initial difficulties,...the growth industries established along major lines brought about by early industrialism have continued to characterize our community throughout recent years: agriculture has been strong; manufacturing has become increasingly diversified; services are rapidly developing...Today's downtown area contains several large shopping malls,, numerous professional parks,, arts centers,, and many other types of businesses which contribute significantly to economic vitality and diversity northeast of downtown... The city proper--formerly bounded by Main Street southward to Wisconsin State Highway 14 eastward to US 36 northward and eastward again to I-94--now occupies all but one block (northwest corner)of blocks bounded by First Avenue on the north side (east side), Second Avenue on central square footage, Third Avenue northwest thereof (southwest corner), Fourth Avenue southeast thereof (northwest corner), US 36 eastward thereto (southwestern corner), I-94 northwest thereto (northeast corner)--an area about twice that size once occupied by just single blocks along Main Street alone...The success attained by today's downtown area could not have been achieved without long term planning conducted over many years culminating with passage last year - after more than two decades - of City Ordinance #567 establishing Downtown Development Authority which will manage all aspects related directly or indirectly to developing downtown areas within limits set forth therein including public education.. ...Downtown development authority plans call for significant densification leading eventually toward 500 people per square mile though no such target date has yet been set...One important outcome expected from this program will be increased availability of affordable housing options close to campus

Manitowoc is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 1,554 at the 2010 census. In 1851, it was established as a post office by order of President James K. Polk. Manitowoc is named after Bergen, New Jersey, and refers to its location on the Missouri River between Lake Michigan and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. The town was first settled in 1845 by fur trappers and their families who were looking for new land to grow crops on following the American Civil War. The first store opened in 1848 and initially served Indian traders before becoming a general store which later became known as the “Hanson Store” due to its owner, John Hanson, being from Norway. Many others followed suit until only 100 residents remained when Milwaukee annexed the town in 1871 including many of those who had founded Manitowoc along with some new arrivals such as David Starr Jordan who arrived in1882 from Mt Pleasant Township, Illinois). In 1885, Manitowoc became an official city when it merged with nearby Racine which at that time also included parts of present-day Milwaukee County and Waukesha County (now part of Wisconsin's Ozaukee County). Approximately 50% of all products sold within miles of both cities were processed here including flour, paper goods, meatpacking plants and other heavy industrial users while services continued to be provided by small businesses such as banks and grocery stores until consolidation came about in 1957 when all retail operations within these two cities were moved into one new building located near downtown (renamed "The Mall" today)
The city of Manitowoc, Wisconsin was founded in 1837 by John F. Dickey and his wife Sarah. The city grew slowly until the opening of the Milwaukee Railroad in 1854y which boosted business and population growth. In 1865, Manitowoc became a state capital and saw continued growth with the advent of industry. The city's first library was opened in 1868 and its first school was built in 1870. In 1916, Manitowoc lost its status as a state capital to Milwaukee due to population growth there. However, it regained this status when it became the capital of Wisconsin again in 1929. With current population size of over 150,000 people, Manitowoc is one of the most populous cities in Wisconsin.
