Little Chute is a town in the town of Green Bay, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Green Bay–West Allis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Little Chute was French explorer and missionary Jacques Marquette in 1673. He named it after his mentor, Louis-Jacques de Montsoucynschamps. Marquette's journal entry for February 3, 1675 reports that he had passed through the village on his way from hearing news of what lay to the south at Kaskaskia County (now Illinois). In 1836, when Little Chute was platted as a village by John C. Wheelock and other settlers following an act of Congress under which towns were established in territory acquired byWisconsin from Minnesota during the Mexican War, it boasted a post office with four employees; however USPS discontinued service in Green Bay on July 14, 1836 because its operations were moved to Milwaukee. The community took its name from nearby Chute Creek which forms its southern border and flows into Menomonee River near present-day Waukesha County Seat (not far from Black Hawk Lake). According to legend: On account of some early pioneers' discovery while hunting game near their cabin that still stands off Main Street today (later dynamited), one young man's pipe tobacco became so addictive that he could not help himself but purchase every bag sold until he ran out one day - setting off a fire that destroyed much of his log cabin and killed most of his settlers including him; as retribution all subsequent pioneer families were required by law to have their houses fronting on Main Street between First and Second Streets inside city limits.) In 1896, local farmers organized themselves into what is now known as the "First Nation" faction within Indian Territory over grievances with white land speculators who had taken good land without giving back pay or title deeds; this group aimed to keep control over traditional tribal rights such as hunting grounds and fishing areas) The residents decided they would rather secede than go along with this agenda) After more than two years peaceful negotiations led by Sitting Bull leader Crazy Horse failed resulting in military engagements throughout Indian Territory culminating with General Alfred Pemberton's march upriver into Nebraska where Sitting Bull finally surrendered on November 17th 1865), Little Chute's mayor appointed George Haggerty as agent for tribal affairs effective January 1st 1867) At first there was resistance due to fear government intrusion but soon everyone got used to Haggerty’s presence since he knew more about their concerns than anyone else] When Wisconsin merged with Iowa creating new states within US Union on January 15th 1871, Little Chute became part of Menomonee Falls Township according to Act 2282(1871); however it reverted back again upon statehood until 1959 when it became again incorporated within Green Bay] As can be seen from these examples various changes have occurred over time affecting both people and place little chutes history reflects this continuity

Little Chute, Wisconsin was founded in 1837. The town was named after a small creek that flowed through the area. Little Chute became a town because of its location on the Mississippi River. The town experienced many changes during its history. In 1902, the town was renamed to Marshall and then to Little Chute in 1949. From 1951-1957, Little Chute was known as Greenfield. In 1957, the name change back to Little Chute again. The town has had several different names over time and it is still considered a small community today. Little Chute is located in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. It has a population of around 5,000 people. The town is made up of several different neighborhoods which are spread out across two square miles of land. These neighborhoods include: East Side Park, West Side Park, North Side Park, and South Side Park. Each neighborhood has their own unique feel and history which makes it an interesting place to live in today. In 1837, the first settlers arrived in what is now Little Chute from northern Illinois . They were farmers who had been forced out of their homes by war with Native Americans .The early settlers built log cabins and started trading goods with other villages along the Mississippi River . By 1841 , littlechuteseekowned about fifty acres of land including twelve houses named for John Marshall The first post office in what is now LittleChute opened on November 1st 1841 . Over time , mail would be delivered by boat down the river to neighboring towns such as Waukesha (now Racine) . Even though mail service stopped operating between Milwaukee County and these villages during World War II , local residents continued to sendmail using horses & wagons until 1945 During this time period there were also various religious services held at local churches such as First Baptist Church which served as both village hall & church In 1849 , when Marshall became a township (it had been part of Greenfield since 1862 ), it included all present day east side park & west sidepark neighborhoods plus parts of north side park & south side park Marshall's boundaries changed frequently due to annexation by other townships over time but they always followed what is now called "eastside-westside" zoning where one half mile wide strip ran from east side park all the way to south sidepark while another half mile wide strip ran from west side park all the way to northsidepark
On the banks of the Little Chute River, in what is now the town of Appleton, was first settled in 1836 by men from Green Bay. The community name derived from a small stream that flowed through the area. When a railway was built through the area and apple trees became popular as an early crop, settlers began to rename their small communities after famous apple growers or other notable people from around Wisconsin. The town of Appleton was founded on May 10, 1876 byGeorge W. Smith and others from Racine. The original plat for Appleton included only one block of land - later increased to five blocks - and it took until 1888 for all six blocks to be developed into a thriving town with its own post office, store and schoolhouse. As early as 1868, Appleton had started construction of a water tower that would provide drinking water for the entire community. Appleton experienced significant growth during World War II due to its location near then-outstanding military installations including Camp Randall and Fort Snelling. In 1945, when Camp Randall closed its doors following the end of World War II, Appleton quickly became home to many troops who were stationed there before they were sent back home. Additionally, manufacturing activities in nearby Waukesha County also helped contribute to rapid growth in Appleton during this time period. Today’s boundaries were established when Appleton merged with neighboring townships on July 1, 1999; however some historical remain such as Streetsboro Road which runs south-southwest from downtownAppleton towards rural farmland
