In 1871, the Little Chute Manufacturing Company was founded in Little Chute by three men - John A. Hegarty, Wm. H. Kline and Augustus Fenton - to produce a new type of stovepipe pipe. Little Chute, Wisconsin is a small town located in the towns of Mount Pleasant and Geneseo in Outagamie County, Wisconsin. The population was 3,873 at the 2010 census. Little Chute is part of the Appleton–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. The village of Little Chute was platted in 1852 by John Fisk and Wm. H. Ballinger as a stop on the Milwaukee Road. The first settler in what is now Little Chute was Isaac Ruter who built a cabin on the site in 1854. By 1870, there were ten families living in Little Chute and it had a total population of twenty-one people. In 1872, three men from New York City built a log cabin on the east side of town which became known as Hometown Hall. A post office was established at Little Chute in 1875 and remained operational until 1889 when it was moved to Mount Pleasant due to railroad expansions into Outagamie County. In 1901, Littlestown Township was organized around what is now Big Chute where Littlestown Lake sat before being drained for flooding that year’s winter season and filled with sandbags to keep the water out of homes upstream from North Avenue Dam & lake shoreline #2&3 (now Mounds View Drive). In the early days of high capacity kits, there was no good way to increase the storage capacity of a computer. This innovative design allowed businesses and governmentsto consolidate their data into one large pool so it could be accessed faster by anyone who wanted to look at it! In 1989, Microsoft released its own versionof this sameServer known as Windows NT (pronounced "not three"). WithWindows NT, businesses were finally able to access their complex data without having to worry aboutthe technical limitations of earlier versions of Windows! By 1865, all vestiges of Little Chute were gone and it has never been reborn again.
The Little Chute area of Wisconsin was settled by the French in the early 1700s. The first permanent European settler in the area was Jean Nicolet, who arrived in 1776. Nicolas built a small cabin on the bank of the Fox River. He and his family were later joined by other pioneers, and over time, Little Chute grew into a small community with a few dozen residents. In 1836, Big Chute Creek was drained for irrigation purposes, creating an opening that allowed more development to take place in the region. In 1861, Little Chute became part of Racine County and remained so until 1959 when it was annexed by Milwaukee County. Since then, it has seen some modest changes but little else aside from sporadic growth - until recently that is. On July 1st of this year,Little Chute received its own official municipality status as part of the Milwaukee Metropolitan Area (MMA). This move signals a new era for Littlechute as it becomes home to both municipal services and cultural offerings necessary for its full development as an economically vibrant community.
