The Little Chute Arsenal was established in 1866 by Colonel John F. Smith, a United States colonel who had been stationed in the area for many years. The arsenal was originally located on the east side of town, but it was moved to its present location in 1902. The Little Chute Arsenal produced over 1,000 rifles and pistols during its long history. During World War II, the Little Chute Arsenal produced more than 2,500 rifles and handguns.

They shot off three rounds at an apple orchard near town before going home for dinner. The first public shooting in Little Chute took place on October 3, 1907, when six individuals participated in a game of tag at the local mill. In 1916, Little Chute became part of Green Bay County when it was separated from Racine County. On November 1st that year, Sheriff Aiken announced that residents would be able to buy shotguns and handguns using $5 stamps which they would then use to purchase rounds for their guns from licensed dealers within 24 hours.
Little Chute is a small town in the southwestern corner of Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of Green Bay, and the two towns are adjacent. The name "Little Chute" may be derived from an unused rail line that ran through the area, or it may come from a Native American word meaning "great stream." In 1855, surveyors named the community after John Little (1795-1856), a settler in nearby Rock Island who built a log cabin on what is now State Road 2. The first post office opened in 1857. In 1907, Little Chute became one of twelve communities to form Green Bay Township. However, by 1950 only 8% of its population had lived there since incorporation; most residents were located in Green Bay itself or neighbouring rural areas. By 2000, however, almost half of Little Chute's residents still lived there; this growth has been largely due to commuting to jobs in Green Bay and neighboring businesses.Today Little Chute features several business districts - one near State Road 4 and US 12 and another near US 6 and Route 3 - as well as numerous residential neighborhoods including Park Heights Estates and White Sands Estates. As administrative center for Southwestern WI., Little Chute functions as both a county seat for Kossuth County (and all but one election precinct) and central government nerve center for all of southern Sawyer County (including most of Menasha). Additionally it provides services such as libraries & health clinics within its borders while also hosting cultural events throughout the year like ArtPrize open houses/festivals etc...

Little Chute is a town in the Wisconsin County seat of Janesville, located about 20 miles southwest of Green Bay and about 25 miles northwest of Milwaukee. The population was 1,908 at the 2000 census. The first people to live in what is now Little Chute were the Menominee Indians. They arrived in 1836 and built a village on the east side of the river near present-day Parkersburg. The first white person to come to this area was Capt. John Hegarty who landed his ship on July 8, 1792 while exploring what is now Manitowoc County. He named the site after his home village, Chute on the Menominee River in Canada. In 1836, Gov. James Kapp appointed David Goodyear as surveyor general for Milwaukee County, and Goodyear surveyed land around present-day LittleChuteincluding what is now Janesvilleand named it “Milwaukee Township” according to an ordinance passed by the Wisconsin General Assembly on October 15, 1837. At that time there were only a few settlements west of White River which included Midland and Madison counties; however, these towns soon grew into thriving communities with their own school systems and churches. In 1910, when Little Chute had a population of 2273 residents, it became part of Janesville Township through annexation by Green Bay.[1] In 1958 its inhabitants voted to secede from Janesville Township and become an independent community known as “LittleChute”[2] After years of debate over its name (referred to variously as “Green Bay” or simply “LittleChute”),[3] LittleChutewas finally chosen by voters as their new township name on November 3rd, 1984 following approval from both the Village Council and Board of Commissioners.[4][5][6] Incorporated under its new nameLittleChuteschool district was established in 1985,[7] while town government began operations January 1st 1986 with Mayor Norma Lutz taking office
In 1836, the first white person to enter Little Chute was Moses Taylor. He and his family were part of a group that settled in the area after fleeing Indian hostilities in Illinois. In 1847, John Fetterman settled in the village, becoming its first postmaster. The community grew rapidly during the late 1800s as a result of new agricultural land being developed along the Little Chute River. By 1900, Little Chute had a population of about 100 people. In 1914, Little Chute became an incorporated town with a population of around 150 people.
