The Origins ofGun Sights It is likely that gunsight originated during the 16th century when armsmiths began developing new methods for aiming firearms. One early method involved using a concave mirror worn around the neck so that a person could see what he or she was aiming at while firing from behind cover. However, this method was difficult to use and required considerable strength and dexterity. A better solution emerged about 1590 when French armiger Jean de la Halle discovered a way to place an image of an object on a small archery bowstring so that you could fire accurately at long range without having to take off your hat or remove your shield (thus exposing yourself). This innovation became known as “the eye-sight” because you could see what you were aiming at even if it was located miles away! This eye-sight invention was soon followed by another development which allowed people with normal vision (no need for sunglasses) toaim rifles using just two lines drawn perpendicular against the bore axis; these called “cross-hairs” because they resembled those found on pistols/shotguns today. By 1598, all European countries had adopted some form of cross-hairs system – except Sweden where they still used traditional naked arrows shot through rings set into bows!

Little Chute is a small town in Sawyer County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,846 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Green Bay–West Allis–Eau Claire Metropolitan Statistical Area. Little Chute was laid out by traders in 1847 and named for a small stream that ran through it. The community developed rapidly after World War II when manufacturing became popular in the area. Many of the town's residents worked in Foxconn, which built its first plant there in 1991. The economy has changed several times since then, but most notably during the Great Recession when joblessness increased and poverty grew. Little Chute is located on State Highway 128 about southeast of Green Bay and west of Eau Claire. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , all land.
The Little Chute, Wisconsin community was settled by the Dutch in the early 17th century. The first permanent settler in what is now Little Chute was Johannes de Vries, who arrived in 1647. The town was named after de Vries' farm on the Rock River. In 1836, a post office called Big Chute was established, and in 1851, a rail line connecting Milwaukee with Chicago opened through Little Chute.
