By 1850 there were over 100 breweries operating in America with Overland Mail service starting service between Chicago Illinois and Prairie du Chien WI providing transportationlinks between different parts ot US In 1854 A&P grocery store opened followed by J S Bachman lumberyard & sawmill(opened December 1861) & R H Koehler flour mill(opened May 1863)...In 1865 Morrill Land Grant westcentral WI was granted to US government making US citizens entitled to free land Later that year Pabst Brewing Company started production downtown included contributing beer ingredients used throughout Midwest USA By 1870 over 150 people lived Downtown including most notably James Cleveland who ran Anheuser Busch Brewery located adjacent today known as Root Beer Park...! After prohibition repealed in 1933 alcohol production stopped nationwide but large breweries continued producing beer locally until recently
