Kenosha is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located about 20 miles (32 km) east of Milwaukee and 25 miles (40 km) northwest of Chicago. The population was 38,566 at the 2010 census. On July 1, 2006, Racine discontinued its independent municipal charter effective July 1st due to budget cuts that resulted from the Great Recession which impacted all municipalities within Wisconesota County including Kenosha & Racine however certain services remain unchanged such as human resources management through Twin Cities Human Resources Services Inc., streetlights have not been turned off since 2007 but instead are run through green LEDs like most other cities across America because we can't afford to maintain them any longer without putting more money into their infrastructure which will save us money down the road’ said Mayor Tom Higgins

Kenosha, Wisconsin is a small town in the northwestern corner of Wisconsin. The population was 5,362 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Kenosha County and the larger city of Beloit. The town is located on Lake Michigan just east of Milwaukee and about 14 miles north-northwest of Chicago. The town site was first settled by German immigrants in 1836 as part of the extreme northern outpost of Racine County. In 1839, local residents bought land from the government for $3 per acre (the equivalent price at that time). A sawmill and gristmill were built soon afterward, while a slave market served both local farmers and travelers along Lake Michigan. By 1860, Kenosha had becoming an important agricultural center with its own post office, jail, churches and schools. In 1871, when Racine County was divided into Kane and Milwaukee counties, Kenosha became part of Milwaukee county. The following year saw another boom for the town with construction starting on a railroad station and other shops and businesses developed within minutes of one another across what would become known as "The Main Street District." As new waves of immigrants arrived in search of opportunity during America's great migration period (1890-1965), Kenosha experienced rapid growth throughout the 1920s through annexation by Des Moines — then called “The City’s Great Age” due to its high level densities (over 10x)of commercial buildings between Prospect Avenue/South Waterfront Drive/Waukesha Avenue eastward to West Side Highway near Waukesha University; residential areas immediately west included north side blocks including Niles Boulevard/Lake Shore Drive; Park West neighborhood south side blocks including Superior Road extending to I-94 exit ramp; eastern edge all blocks south side extending to state line which formed border between Cook County (north) and Kane County (south). This era also included vigorous development around North Avenue bypassing downtown which led directly to Niles Boulevard today's business district
The town of Kenosha, Wisconsin was founded in 1837 by Samuel Underhill and his wife Abby. The town became a city in 1902. The city was merged with Milwaukee in 1998.
