By 1870 there were over 1,000 people living inKenosha Village with a store and post office. In 1927 local businessmen organized an Agricultural Showcase Tournament which has been held annually since then and has become an important event in rural life in Kenosha. Other events include Homecoming Weekend (the week preceding Memorial Day), Christmas Eve/Christmas Day services (usually at First Baptist Church), Ford Fairgrounds Days (a weeklong celebration featuring family entertainment including carnival rides, games etc.), Fourth of July fireworks displays at Kettle Falls Dam Recreation Area near downtown KenosHA., Harvest Festivals (usually occurring around October) and Apple Blossom Festival (March or April). There are also many smaller festivals throughout the year including golf tournaments or potluck dinners held at various businesses or churches related to agriculture or food production

Kenosha is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin, located on the Fox River. The population was 24,824 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from the Ojibwe word ken-wah (meaning "big water"). The first people to live in what is now Kenosha arrived by boat from Canada some time before 1836. At that time, it was part of the Sauk Indian Nation and their land extended from present-day Milwaukee to Waukesha County to the north and east; it included all or most of modern Dane and Winnebago counties to the south and west. In 1836, George Stephenson built a steamboat on the Fox River for railway passenger transportation between Milwaukee and Chicago; Kenosha became one of its terminals. One early business owned by Jesse Case was a sawmill on Menomonee Falls near today's downtown Kenosha. Other early businesses included a gristmill on Racine Avenue, post office (1841), trust company (1846), hotel (1848), store (1849), livery stable (1851) and auctioneers' block(s). In 1854, John Cockerill established a tannery in what is now Kenosha which led to other Tannery Businesses being established such as Brick Works & Tile Works(1905-2006) which later closed due to lack of customers but left behind an interesting brickmaking process called 'Cockerill Bricks'. Another interesting business started up around this time was 'The Grain Elevator', which served as both storage and production facility for corn grain shipments coming into Milwaukee until they were finally shipped downriver by rail to various locations including Racine, Green Bay and Chicago before ending up here at The Grain Elevator building still stand today! This building had been used as a warehouse for many years prior when it burnt down in 1906 but remained standing until 2007 when it was remodeled into apartments!
The town of Kenosha, Wisconsin was founded in 1854 by John Wentworth. The town grew slowly but gradually became a manufacturing center for paper products and other items. In the 1920s, the town experienced a rapid growth due to its location on the Great Lakes region and its ability to export goods.
