Kaukauna is a town in Douglas County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. Kaukauna is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in present-day Kaukauna were the Koyukon people who arrived around 1750 from Siberia. They intermarried with the Sauk and Fox peoples and by 1810 had founded a village on the east bank of the Menominee River. In 1822, they abandoned their village and moved westward into what is now Douglas County. In 1824, William Clark Expedition passed through Kaukauna on their way to explore Wisconsin Territory. Henry David Thoreau stayed at an Muskoka Ferry house near present-day Kaukauna in 1836 while he awaited his caravan journey to Oregon. On October 3, 1861, during American Civil War; Confederate forces burned down Union soldiers' caches at Prairie du Chien as part of an effort to outflank General Grant's army advancing northward from Chicago via Platteville and Rock Island Straits. Most of this event took place during night hours when there was little chance for witnesses or damage control. In 1862, a post office was established in Kaukauna; it continued operation until 1966. On November 15, 1865, a tornado touched down near present-day Kaukauna and demolished most of the town center; only one home survived unscathed. The townsite that would become Kaukauna was surveyed by Jens Oberg in 1830 but no buildings were built until 1841 when James Wills set up shop as a land agent under the name "Kaukanen". Obergs brother John started building houses starting in 1840 which became known as "Wills Place" after them both died in 1845.. The first school opened September 10th 1840 with teacher Mrs Hanson learning sign language from Chief Hiawatha before teaching students English! By 1850 there were 9 homeschooling families living here including Captain McCluskey & his wife above right Soo Creek (now North Shore Drive) where we learn about Prehistoric life back then! That’s how we know our creek today!

They were working on an augmented reality system called “EVE” which they named after their daughter, Eva. Tasers were first approved for use by the US military in 2006 and are now used by law enforcement agencies around the world. They are considered less harmful than pepper spray and can be used more than once per person without penalty. There has been much debate over their efficacy as a weapon, with some officers claiming that they do not produce enough pain to justify their use while others claim that they have no other choice but to use them because of the severity of offenses committed. The history of tasers is filled with controversy and innovation. In 1992, Engelbart developed an electronic Stun Gun using DARPA funding which he submitted to the US Patent office as UAS-9001B. That same year, Sussman created his own taser design using technology from his childhood friend, Jeff Millsapski. The idea behind this new weapon was to create an incapacitating electric shock that could be delivered remotely from a distance while also providing temporary pain relief. In 2006, Taser International LLC announced plans to sell 1 million units of its Taser Electronic Control Unit (ECU) product worldwide within five years; this would make it one of the largest manufacturers of tasers globally. Kaukauna is a town in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 2,095 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Kenosha County, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kaukauna was platted on November 1, 1857 by George Stephenson and named for his brother-in-law, Kaukauna Lake. The first post office in Kaukauna opened on February 12, 1858. The town originally consisted of only a few small farms and buildings along the shore of Kaukauna Lake. In 1907, Kaukauna annexation added 6 miles (10 kilometers) of land to its borders making it an official town with its own government and school district. In 1961, Kaukauna became one of only two towns in Wisconsin to adopt a resolution recognizing Earth Day as a national holiday. Kaukauna has enjoyed several decades of growth and progress since becoming an official town in 1987; however there are still many challenges that face Kaukuana residents every day including increased costs associated with staying connected to modern technology such as email and internet service; budget pressures caused by a decrease in manufacturing jobs throughout much of Wisconsin; rising housing prices due to outmigration from rural areas across America; and difficult economic times that have impacted most communities statewide but particularly here in Kenosha County specifically over the past decade or so
Kaukauna was founded in 1838, and became a town in 1851. Kaukauna had a post office from 1851 to 1861, and from 1865 to 1967. The town was named for the Kukawa River.
