Gun targets have been a part of Kaukauna, Wisconsin history for many years. In 1848, the first gun target was erected in the town. The target was made from a piece of wood that had to be cut down to size and then painted black. The target was used to shoot at rabbits, pigeons, or other small animals. From 1852-1856, there were twogun targets in the town. One target was made from 4x4s that were nailed together and stood 8 feet tall. The other target was made from 2x2s that were nailed together and stood 6 feet tall. In 1865, a cannonball hit one of the gun targets in Kaukauna and it toppled over. It is believed that this caused some people in town to start using GUN TARGETS as projectiles instead of using arrows or spears! It wasn’t until the early 1800’s when guns began being used on a larger scale in Kaukauna. Gun balls started flying around the town so residents decided to put up their own targets! By 1850, there were threegun targets scattered throughout the town! By 1907, there were sixgun targets located throughout Kaukauna! These Targets could be found on private property or public squares depending on where they were situated. In 1916, GUN TARGETS became an official part of Wisconsin state law! This allowed citizens all over Wisconsin to shoot at various types of targets! The popularity of GUN TARGETS continued through World War II because during that time firearms weren’t allowed on most public properties! However, people still enjoyed shooting at these devices because they provided hours of entertainment for locals and tourists alike!

This Target consists of several circles that are approximately equal in size and compass directions facing outward at an angle towards the centerline. It’s easy to hit this type of target because there isn’t much space between each circle and you only need one shot per round when firing at it with a rifle or shotgun.

Gunners from nearby towns began to place targets at different locations around the town, and by 1860 there were 16 gun pits in Kaukauna. The first rifle range opened up in Kaukauna in 1871 and it continued to be used until 1945. In 1907, Kaukauna became the site of the world’s second international air-rifle competition. The event took place at Racetrack Park and resulted in the creation of several international Rifle Championships that have taken place throughout the years.
Kaukauna is a town in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis Metropolitan Statistical Area. Kaukauna was platted in 1854 by federal agent John C. Richardson and named for an American Indian village on the Sauk River near present-day Kaukauna. The first post office in Kaukauna was established in 1856. In 1865, it became the first incorporated town in Dane County. The Town Company was organized on November 15, 1871 and adopted a constitution and bylaws that provided for a township form of government with staggered voting districts to maintain representative democracy within the community while meeting financial needs through assessments levied against commercial properties within its borders. The first election to the Township Board took place on December 12, 1872 and Edwin Sauer was elected as township chairman with 159 votes to 33 ballots cast (36 percent). Kaukauna's early growth came from its location adjacent to major transportation routes which allowed goods brought into or exported from the area to reach both Milwaukee and Chicago quickly without having to go downriver or across country roads. These days, this infrastructure remains important as Hauppauge Avenue serves as one of Wisconsin's primary highways connecting Kaukauna with other parts of Dane County as well as outlying communities like Racine and Wausau. One significant event that occurred during the mid 1800s that had a significant impact on Kaukauna's development was when Hennepin County began purchasing large tracts of land east of downtown Minneapolis for agricultural purposes which later became known as Central Parkland

Gun target manufacturers have been around since before the late 1800s, and there are now dozens of different companies that make targets for various purposes. One of the earliest gun targets was created by Major Andrew Williamson in 1814. Williamson designed a Target Rifle which consisted of an elevated stand with two circles spaced about sixteen feet apart. The circles were made from metal and could be moved to adjust their position. The rifle was used for practice at White Sands Battlefield in New Mexico. The first real mass-produced gun target was created by John Fenton in 1846. Fenton's Target Rifle consisted of a circle mounted on a post with two legs extending out from it. The circle could be rotated so that it resembled a human body or any other object you might want to shoot at.Fenton's Target Rifle quickly became popular and he continued to produce them until his death in 1865. In 1892, George Barnett developed the first self-propelled target system while working for Willcox Manufacturing Company Ltd.. This system consisted of four metal drums that were capable of being moved around like wheels on an open field or playground equipment. It was eventually declared operational at Winchester Repeating Arms Company's facility in 1908. The Self Propelled Guns (SPGs) program began during World War II as part of Project Paperclip . SPGs were designed to provide cover for Allied troops as they fought against Axis forces across Europe . By 1944, over 2,500 SPG systems had been produced . Some notable examples include the Sherman “Tiger” tank destroyer , which fired mortar shells through its side armor using twin 20mm cannons ;and the HMS Mersey , which acted as both a ground support vessel and flagship for Allied naval forces during Operation Neptune 's cross-Channel assault against Nazi Germany Today, gun targets continue to play a significant role in American Shooting sports . From its earliest days, Kaukauna was a thriving community. Kaukauna’s history dates back to the late 18th century when French traders and explorers reached the area and built their homes on either side of the river. Kaukauna quickly became a center of trade and commerce, hosting illegal fur trading expeditions as well as international meetings of the United States Congress. The town’s growth continued during the 19th century as various industries developed in nearby Superior and other towns. By 1910, Kaukauna had become an important agricultural center with a population of over 1,000 people. The local banks were also among the first to establish branches in Wisconsin. In 1923, Kaukauna was incorporated as a city and has since grown into one ofWisconsin’s most vibrant communities. Today, Kaukauna is known for its rich cultural heritage including its renowned music scene which includes popular bands such as The Smithkas and The Honeymooners, as well as professional performers like Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen. The City also hosts several festivals each year including summertime blues events at Walnut Park and wintertime carnival events at Hart Park.
Kaukauna is located in Polk County, Wisconsin, and was first settled by Dutch colonists in the 1630s. The town was founded on the banks of the Kawkawalla River by Dutchman Hendrick de Vries and his family. After being defeated by the English during the French and Indian War, de Vries’ family sold their holdings to a group of Swedish immigrants in 1768. In 1837, Kaukauna became part of the United States after it was purchased from Sweden by General James K. Polk.
