Janesville, Wisconsin is home to the world’s third largest ammunition plant. The Janesville Ammunition Plant produces rounds for rifles, shotguns, handguns and artillery. Ammunition production began in 1892 at the Janesville Rifle Works of Immaculate Conception Baptist Church. The company has been manufacturing ammunition ever since. The company was founded by a group of businessmen from Milwaukee who wanted to start a business that would supply ammo to other businesses in the area. Ammunition production continued until 1962 when it was closed due to budget cuts by then-President John F Kennedy. After the closure of the plant, Armour Manufacturing Co., successor of Janesville Ammo, produced ammunition in nearby Scranton, Pennsylvania until 1976 when they too were closed down due to budget cuts by President Jimmy Carter. After Armour’s closure, all but one round factory became part of Brownells Incorporated which still manufactures rounds today. In 1984 Brownells merged with Winchester Arms Corporation and became Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WAC). From 1985-2005 WAC manufactured both rifle rounds and handgun rounds under its own name as well as expanding its product line to include airsoft products through their subsidiary Airgun Distributors Incorporated (ADI). Since World War II there have been many advancements made in firearms technology that have led to more accurate fire than ever before possible. One such advance is projectile technology which has led to projectiles traveling faster than ever before becoming available for use with firearms including sniper rifles and self-loading pistols where accuracy is essential for successful engagements on moving targets or during rapid fire situations where multiple shots are needed per target hit thereby resulting in increased potential casualties or damage done to equipment etc… Today’s firearm enthusiasts must be able operate these types of firearms with precision if they are going To compete against those utilizing advanced projectile technologies that have existed throughout history long before our current day contemporaries came into existence! In 1877, the company moved its operations to what is now known as the Janesville Armory. From that location, the Larsen Manufacturing Company produced rifles, handguns and shotguns for local customers as well as export sales. In 1906, the company name was changed to The Browning Arms Corporation. over time, Browning Arms Corporation became one of the leading manufacturers of firearms in North America. In 2009, Browning Arms Corporation merged with Glock Incorporated to form Glock Defense LLC.
The town of Janesville, Wisconsin is located in the southeast corner of the state of Wisconsin. It is bordered by the towns of Sheboygan and Racine to the north, Fullerton to the east, and Waukesha to the south. The population was 16,824 at the 2010 census. The city is home to two universities-the University of Wisconsin-Madison and UW-Milwaukee-and a variety of businesses and services including health care, education, manufacturing, agriculture, transportation, retailing and tourism. Janesville was founded in 1836 by settlers from Denmark who named it after General Jan Heyerdahl who had fought in the Mexican War. The Danish community here lasted until 1851 when all but one house were destroyed in a fire that started while residents were gathered for church service. In 1865 Janesville became part of Green Bay which at that time included all present day Milwaukee County. In 1920 Janesville was made an incorporated village with a mayor/council form of government under which it has remained since then with a unicameral legislature made up of thirteen members elected at large with staggered terms. In 1954 local manufacture stopped due to World War II shortages as well as other factors such as rising agricultural prices associated with McCarthy’s program known locally as “Operationselfishness”; however increased production resumed soon afterward thanks largely to advances in technology including multi-fuel fuel combustion engines which replaced horse power used during earlier years. Janesville is a town in Winnebago County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 9,531 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–acreage metropolitan area. The Janesville post office has been in operation since 1854. The first Europeans to visit what is now Janesville were fur traders from the Northwest Territories who came through the area in search of new land to hunt and trade with. In 1824 a group of men from Illinois led by Captain John Ralston journeyed upriver to explore what is now Janesville while they were on their way north to trading posts around the Great Lakes region. They reached Janesville on July 5, 1824 and named it after General David Wells Fargo, who had led an expeditionsthrough that same area two years earlier for similar reasons. At first there was only one house in town but by 1830 there were several hundred people living hereabouts. In 1840 Pierre Lacouture founded a fur-packing business here that became one of the largest in Canada and helped build the cityscape we know today. He also donated land for what would become Waukesha County courthouse square which still stands today (and where he also built his home). In 1847 Isaac Eaton founded Sears & Roebuck here as well and helped support many aspects of local life including education and farming until his death in 1907 aged 86 years old; he was one of only three Americans ever honored with an Order Of Merit by Queen Victoria! After him other major players such as James Cashdan (1860-1943), Julius Rosenwald (1863-1940) and Sidney Weinreb (1920-1993) all brought their businesses or families to this community during its early days – simply because it offered good soil, good climate and plenty of opportunity! In 1911 Jens Erikson opened Jens Erikson's Clothing Store which quickly became one of Wiscones most popular retail destinations. After World War II Jens Erikson continued to operate his store until it closed its doors on February 15th 1991 due to economic recession conditions; however, some items still remain inside the building today like some clothes from when Erikson served as Mayor from 1961-1964! That year saw another big player enter into town history when Fritz Kuhn Sr., owner/operator of Kohl’s Department Store entered into business operations at 7 Main Street! Kuhn started out small but quickly built up a strong presence within our community becoming known for being quality oriented throughout our region! He soon moved his store across I-94 creating quite an excitement among shoppers throughout Wisconsin – even though it may have been just down the street from Kohls at that point 😉 Many milestones occurred during this time such as Dave Weigel moving into his current location adjacent to FirstEnergy Stadium back in 2001 which later became home to WI Sports Magazine HQ before finally being sold off again following the development of Green Bay Packers stadium nearby! This paper will not discuss every significant event or business move that took place over these many decades but rather select a few representative examples so you can get a better idea about howtownspeople have interacted with each other through time - something that truly makes us proud 🙂
