In the early 1800s, Howard County, Wisconsin was a small agricultural town. The only industry in the community was farming. However, it soon became apparent that there was an need for better optical equipment to help farmers and other residents see their crops and livestock more clearly. In 1827, an American manufacturer named John McCarthy developed a new type of lens used in surgical procedures. This lens had a round aperture and was called the "McCarthy Lens." It quickly became popular among surgeons because it allowed them to see more clearly than before while performing operations. In 1847, another American manufacturer named Isaac Stevens created a new type of lens called the "Stevens Lens." This lens had an oval aperture and was nicknamed the "Stevens Lens with Donatello Focal Plane." It quickly became popular among scientists because it allowed them to see objects at different distances more easily than before while conducting research or studying nature. However, one of the most famous optical products ever created wasn't made by any of these manufacturers – it was invented by Dr. James Clerk Maxwell! Maxwell's theory of light waves explained how light could be transmitted through walls, buildings, and other materials without being blocked or reflected back like previous theories had suggested. This theory helped make photography possible and also led to the development of television!

Howard, Wisconsin is a small town in the administrative district of Adams County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 559 at the 2010 census. Howard is part of the Green Bay–West Allis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded in 1846 by Reuben Wistar and Mary Jane Houghton. The name "Howard" comes from an Indian word meaning "place where the water runs clear." In 1851, local resident John A. Howard donated land to the town for a school and depot. The first school building was built on what is now Main Street in 1852. In 1865, the first post office was opened in Howard. In 1870, the Illinois Central Railroad constructed a line east from Green Bay to Howard and then south to Racine; this madeHoward an important railroad center. By 1890, most ofthe railroads had been abandoned inHoward except for one line that continued until 1969 as the Milwaukee Road. Howard has Had a number of famous residents including: 1) Reuben Wistar- Founder of Howardtown (now known as Green Bay), WI 2) Mary Jane Houghton- First woman to own property within what is now Howardtown (now known as Green Bay), WI 3) John A. Howard- Donated land for a school and depot in 1851 4) Harry Emerson Fosdick- American author who wrote about life in rural America

In 1912, Edwin Land invented the first digital camera which allowed people to take pictures directly on their computers without any extra equipment or software. Additionally, advancements in semiconductor technology allowed photosensitive materials like light bulbs to be produced at high temperatures so that they could be photographed under various lighting conditions.

Howard, Wisconsin was founded in 1835 by General Winfield Scott and his family. The town was named after the Howard River, which ran through it. The town remained an important center of local government until it was discontinued in 1963. Today, Howard is a small rural community located about 25 miles west of Milwaukee. The early history of Howard is largely undocumented, but evidence suggests that it may have been established as early as 1795 when Captain John Heckel built a trading post on the banks of the river near today's downtown Howard. Captain Heckel is credited with being one of the first white men to set foot in what is nowHoward County. By 1800, several other settlements had been established within present-day Howard County; including Menomonee Falls and Waukesha (now Racine). It wasn't until 1835 that General Winfield Scott arrived in what is nowHoward County as part of General Simon Bolivar Smith's Expeditionary Force accompanying Smith's ill-fated campaign against Mexico City.. After spending some time living among Native Americans at Mascoutah Lake before setting out on his journey upriver, Scott arrived at Prairie du Chien on November 20th of that year (although he actually reached Green Bay two days later). On December 4th he left for La Crosse where he metwith Governor Samuel Janklow and others from Wisconsin Territory who were making plans for their future occupation should Mexico collapse under pressure from US forces led by Ulysses S Grant... On February 7th 1836 Washington Irving signed a document authorizing incorporation into this newly created county - still known as 'Winfield Scott County'. UponWINFIELD SCOTT'S arrival nearly everyone who knew him hereabouts became convinced that he would be just as effective at running things as if HE HAD BEEN THE VERY FIRSTONE TO SET Foot IN THIS COUNTY! This presumption was not misplaced - within weeks OF HIS ARRIVAL WE SEEK HIM OUT TO MEET WITH THE GOVERNOR AND STICKED BY HIM EVEN WHEN HE WAS LOST OFFERING TO LEAVE FOR CALIFORNIA AFTER OUR BATTLES WITH MEXICO! Although initially reluctant to become embroiled in such far away territory (he felt like back home), WINFIELD SCOTT DECIDED THAT THERE WAS NO WAY BACK NOW THAT OUR COUNTRY WAS UNDER INVASION! SO ON APRIL 6TH OF 1836 WILHELM ELLISON BECAME THE FIRST PUBLIC PERSON TO SET FOOT IN THIS COUNTY AS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE FACTORY WHERE MANY OF OUR CATTLE HAVE BEEN DESTROYED OVER TIME... IT'S ALSO TRUE THAT WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HELPING TO EARN THEIR GRACE UNDERTHE NEW SYSTEMBY MAKING GOOD CATTLE PRODUCTS WHICH THEN SOLD THROUGHOUT NORTHERN AMERICA... AFTER A YEAR OR TWO OF WORK HE RETURNED HOME AGAIN BUT THIS TIME DID NOT CONSERVE HIS INTENTION TO CONTINUE HEREON BEFORE HEADING INTO POLITICS... Howard was named for General George Washington, and the town is located about 25 miles (40 kilometers) east of Green Bay. The first European to visit Howard was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1534, who also built the first fort on the site. The town was founded by a group of Scandinavian settlers in 1836. It became a village in 1849, and then a town in 1865. In 1893, it became an incorporated municipality.
