The city was founded in 1836 by a group of settlers who desired to establish a center where they could produce and sell their milk products. In addition to its role as the capital of dairy farming, Hartford also played an important role in the development of agriculture in the area. The city's early pioneers were instrumental in developing what is now the Milk Producers' Federation and helping to develop other agricultural industries.
Hartford, Wisconsin is a small town in the far north-central region of the United States. The population was 5,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Milwaukee–Waukesha–West Allis metropolitan area. Hartford was first settled by Germans in 1836 and incorporated as a village in 1854. It became an unincorporated community on May 10, 1951, when it merged with nearby Pleasant Prairie to form Hartford-Pleasant Prairie Township. The township was dissolved on July 1, 1957, and its land became part of the new town of Hartford. In 2000, Hartford annexed the adjacent towns of Appleton and Waukesha. The population growth in Hartford has been significant; according to official figures from 2010* (the most recent census), it has increased from 3,595 to 5,821 since then. The history of Hartford is intertwined with that of Milwaukee County and Waukesha County. For many years both counties were ruled by Dutch families who contributed greatly to their cultures and economies; however, after World War II they began to lose control over their lands to American developers. This development accelerated during the early 1960s when Interstate 94 was built through these regions and further truncated local government authority; as a result, little attention was paid to local institutions or services until more recently when tax revenues have begun flowing into those coffers again.* Today’s economy is driven by four key sectors: manufacturing ( including textiles and food processing ), transportation/infrastructure development (including telecommunication companies), professional services (lawyers/accountants etc.), and recreation/ hospitality . *The2010 US Census counted 4,624 people in Hartford-Pleasant Prairie Township despite its unilateral dissolution

In the early 1800s, there were a limited number of high capacity kits available. This was because the market for large and heavy artillery was only starting to develop. However, over time, more and more high capacity kits became available. The development of new technology allowed for greater payloads and increased range. As a result, the market for high capacity kits grew even further.
Hartford, Wisconsin was founded in 1836 as a town in the Dodge County area of present-day Milwaukee. The community grew rapidly after it was laid out on the site of what is now the University Park neighborhood of Milwaukee. In 1847, Hartford became a city and was renamed to honor George Washington Carver, one of its early boosters and mayor from 1903 to 1906. Hartford experienced rapid growth during the late 19th century due to its importance as a manufacturing center for products such as flour, bacon, cheese, soap and other goods. The population reached 100,000 by 1910 and increased again to 150,000 by 1920. However, World War I led to dramatic declines in local production and employment throughout Midwest America; Hartford's population dropped below 10,000 for the first time since 1880. During the 1920s and 1930s there were massive efforts to revitalize downtown Hartford with new development including an ice rink built in 1922 and a movie theater opened in 1929. The post-war years were difficult for Hartford; specifically during the Great Depression when jobs dried up along with housing prices statewide. However some relatively successful initiatives such as creating government housing authority helped revive downtown activity during this period. Hartford's fortunes began to turnaround following World War II when significant investment arrived from outside of Milwaukee – including construction of two large shopping malls which anchor today's downtown skyline (the first being opened in 1961) and major medical equipment manufacturer Ciba-Geigy moving into town from Waukesha (then called Allendale). This new economic vitality helped spur further redevelopment throughout downtown while also increasing access to quality education opportunities across the city limits; particularly through UW–Milwaukee's School of Medicine which moved into building on North Second Street south of State Street in 1967 followed by Mercy Hospital/St Francis Xavier University (now Marquette University) on West Third Street east of South First Street soon after.
Hartford was first settled in 1795. The town was named for George Washington, who had been president of the United States at the time. Hartford became a city in 1835 and was renamed Milwaukee in 1837.
