With plans under way for new housing developments on property bordering First Street including One Building @ The Park (OBTP), several hundred jobs have been created or are planned for both inner-city neighborhoods surrounding Rivertown Lake southward as well as near Interstate 90/US 12/Milwaukee County Line westward since 2013 largely thanks to funding from state legislators Marianne Anka and Gordon Wilson prior thereto especially following comments from then-Sheriff David Clarke about "a community falling behind" while also noting concerns raised about vacant storefronts along First Street lacking any sort Of programming or event space available there despite repeated pleas from business owners thereabouts; see FIRST STREET REVITALIZATION PROJECT FORHartford/.
