He also owned an early post office from 1866 until it closed in 1916 . One other early settler was Gideon Barnes who also ran a farmstead near Beaver Dam creek which would later become known as Barnes Park Additionally some Early settlers including Peter Day founded two schools – one called Deer Run School southwest corner Main Street and another called Christian Brothers School just northeast corner First Street Also pioneer Captain George Kapp located his store at what is now Second Avenue and Third Street southeast corner “Walden” (now Riverside Drive). This Store established contact with many other pioneers during this time period who would settle here over the years

The Town of Greenfield was organized on November 3, 1836 by a group of men led by Hiram S. Hyde and Lewis Ayres. The town was named for General James Fenton Greene (1777-1853), who had served as an American officer during the War of 1812 and as Governor of New York from 1824 to 1830. In 1840, Greenfield became one of twelve towns in the Townshend Purchase – a area east of downtown that had been purchased by the state from the Native Americans in 1837. In 1846, Greenfield's first store opened and it remained its mainstay until 1865 when a post office was established there. In 1870-71, Greenfield built its first schoolhouse which remains its primary educational institution to this day. In 1906-07, local resident John Boren created what is now known as "Boren Park" on his property near Main Street and Washington Avenue within what is now Park Heights neighborhood in northwest Milwaukee County. park has since grown into one of Milwaukee's largest public spaces with over 2 million square feet (190,000 m2) dedicated to grazing livestock and other recreational uses; it also serves as a venue for community events such as baseball games and concerts; moreover, it has become an important cultural center for Latinos living in Northwestern Milwaukee County due to its location just south of I-43 betweenMilwaukee Avenue and Appleton Road
