In 1925, Greendale had its own water system which allowed for more than just retail sales at the grocery store; it also became home to M&M's Marshmallow Factory which produced candy bars for local customers! By 1930 there were 543 residents living in Greendale with four schools and twelve businesses including an auto service station and tire shop. The years following World War II saw an increase in population due to wartime veterans moving into the area after being discharged from military duty or finding work elsewhere. This growth brought about additional residences as well as businesses such as a movie theater (the first ever located within reach of Greendale) and hospital (the first Ever found within reach of Green Bay). The mill building still stands today as a property of WCRR subsidiary Prairie Mills Incorporated..
